Rise of the Zerg in the World of Gods

Chapter 62: Mercury Civilization’s Kobolds

"Come, eat and drink everyone!"

In a luxurious villa, a group of strange creatures that looked somewhat human but with jellyfish-like heads and tentacles for limbs were enthusiastically gathering.

Moji of the Mercury civilization was elegantly gliding among his friends, using his tentacles to hold a wine glass, encouraging them to eat and drink well.

The other Mercury beings weren't shy, gorging themselves on food imported from human civilization - barbecue, alcohol, and beverages.

These were highly sought-after items in interstellar trade, impossible to obtain without connections and capital.

Watching the Mercury beings feast, Moji felt a great sense of accomplishment.

As a member of the Mercury civilization, he had been abandoned by his unscrupulous parents on his allocated planet after birth, so he was very lonely. He often held banquets, and human food and drinks were his favorites.

The Mercury civilization was a Level 3 civilization, a powerful one in the nearby star region, with many Level 1 and Level 2 civilizations as vassals.

Moji wasn't particularly interested in developing his planet. Most of the time, he stayed in the World of Gods or traveled around in reality.

However, just as they were clinking glasses, Moji's expression suddenly changed drastically.

His elegance and composure were replaced by anger.

Leaving his butler to entertain the guests, he left in a hurry without a word of explanation.

Moji had always been developing his Divine Realm alone, never expecting to be visited by a hunter one day.

At this moment, his mood was terrible.

Not because of the invasion, but because he was holding a gathering and had been discourteous to his friends.

This made him, who considered himself a nobleman, very angry.

Hurriedly connecting to the World of Gods, as soon as he entered his Divine Realm and saw his army being pushed back by the invaders, Moji became even more upset.

He had been in the novice Divine Realm for over nine years, originally planning to refine it a bit more. After this year, he intended to ignite his divine flame, elevating his Divine Realm to a Divine Kingdom. Now, encountering this situation, his plans might not come to fruition.

Because he was willing to invest and had developed for a long time, Moji's Divine Realm had progressed very well, rich in various resources, and with a large population of his species.

His start had actually been quite poor, with only a group of Bronze Tier 1 Kobolds.

But Kobolds also had a bright future.

Now his Divine Realm was filled with various Silver-tier beings like Kobold Archmages and Kobold Sages, and even some Lord-tier units.

Seeing the invaders recklessly destroying, Moji immediately mobilized all his troops, determined to eliminate the invaders.

Moji, who had developed his Divine Realm for over 90 years, had now established a small Kobold empire, forming a class-based civilization. At this moment, he issued a divine decree, immediately mobilizing this behemoth.

Kobold legions sprang into action from all directions, converging on the strange invading creatures.

To be honest, Moji was quite knowledgeable, recognizing most species, but he didn't know what these creatures were - somewhat insect-like in shape but with a faint dragon aura.

Seeing the invading enemy repeatedly split their forces, with one group charging directly towards his Divine Realm core, Moji became even more furious.

"You're seeking your own destruction!"

He angrily used his mastered high-level spell, Wrath of Thunder.

Over the years, Moji hadn't been idle in his Divine Realm. He had self-taught various spells and was now a powerful being with high-level spellcasting abilities.

Bolts of lightning rained down, but most of the attacks were neutralized upon contact with the enemy's shells, with the remaining unable to kill them.

What surprised Moji even more was that the invaders, though blasted open by the lightning, were rapidly healing their damaged shells.

Such healing ability was truly terrifying.

The Kobold legion mobilized, and although their numbers vastly exceeded the enemy's, Moji suddenly felt uncertain.

The individual strength of the enemy was simply too powerful. He judged them to be Silver-tier elites, though he couldn't determine the exact tier.

The Kobold army's individual strength wasn't actually strong; they relied more on overwhelming numbers to defeat opponents.

Moji knew the advancement path for Kobolds to reach Silver tier, but he hadn't collected many advancement materials, so not many had advanced.

After trying to attack, Moji decisively used various purchased enhancement abilities. These were divine arts sealed by real Gods. Although their power couldn't compare to when used by Gods themselves, he couldn't be picky at this moment.

Moji, being wealthy, used enhancement techniques one after another without hesitation.

Because he knew very clearly that if his Divine Realm core was destroyed, he would have to start everything over.

In the Mercury civilization's long lifespan, nine years wasn't long, but Moji was unwilling to let the Divine Realm he had invested so much effort into be destroyed like this.

The entire Kobold legion's overall strength surged two to three times, marching proudly and confidently towards the invaders.

Then, under Moji's eager gaze, their formation was broken by a single charge.

This was all too unexpected.

Originally, Moji thought that with so many enhancements, if not evenly matched, they could at least barely resist, giving him time to summon Kobold powerhouses. But the result was this situation.

However, at this point, all they could do was use their lives to delay the invaders' advance.

In the Kobold Imperial Palace.

The elderly Kobold Emperor looked at the clamoring ministers and forcefully struck his cane on the ground.

"Now that the evil god's followers have invaded our homeland, for our survival and for the glory of the Kobold God, we need to drive out these evil god followers!"

He stood up, his small body and hunched back emanating an awe-inspiring presence.

"For Douglas!"

"For Douglas!"

Faced with the Kobold Emperor's strong stance, some Kobold higher-ups with their own agendas quickly put aside their inappropriate thoughts.

They might not care about the so-called divine decree, but the powerful Kobold Emperor was someone they had to submit to.

This is the inherent flaw of intelligent life. The higher one's position, the more diluted their faith tends to be. If Moji hadn't specifically chosen the Kobold with the highest faith level and invested heavily to make him emperor and a Silver-tier Monarch, he would probably have been like other nobles, considering everything only from the perspective of self-interest.

Creatures are complex; it's not as simple as someone believing in you just because you're good to them!
