Sucked into a Fantasy Game

Chapter 27-Princess Vanescka’s Room

The maid had left to do chores, and Chelsea had gone back to her duties.

Kiyomi and Sako followed Princess Vanescka to her room.

The armed guard at her door saluted her. His full helmet covered his face.

Princess Vanescka stopped before him. “You, get me some warm, strawberry milk and a bowl of marshmallows from the kitchen. Make sure the milk’s temperature is just right for my tongue. Measure it. And I want tea biscuits. Make sure they’re fresh and crunchy. Not too big to fit in my mouth and with lots of cream in the center. Break them into little pieces if you have to.”

“Yes, Your Highness.” He saluted and went off down the corridor.

Princess Vanescka led them into her room. “Take your shoes off and close the door behind you.”

Kiyomi and Sako took their shoes off and set them neatly by the door then closed it before walking further in, though they also could’ve unequipped them from their inventories.

The room was filled with various stuffed animals, which untidily sat everywhere: on the bed, floor, bookshelves, some pinned to walls, spilling out of her closet… The sheets on the bed were unkempt too.

She went over to her bed, climbed onto it, and sat on the edge then gestured for Kiyomi and Sako to sit on the floor.

Jeez, you could’ve offered your guests chairs, Kiyomi thought as she sat down, crossing her legs. There were two chairs in a far corner of the room on the other side of Princess Vanescka’s bed. She could’ve conjured up some chairs, but she didn’t want to seem weird.

She opened her inventory, pressed a few buttons, and selected all 50 stuffed toys. They appeared as a pile and fell out of her hands, scattering along the floor. “Is here okay?”

“Yes, on the floor is fine,” Princess Vanescka assured.

Kiyomi dropped the remainder on the floor beside the rest. How did I get dragged into this…

“So, spill it. What’s your secret for all those monsters? That was about 100 000, yet you both managed to blow right through them. I watched you,” she pointed to Sako, “then I went to watch you,” then she pointed to Kiyomi.

There was no hiding it now.

“We’re from another world,” Sako replied. “When we got here, our skills from the previous world translated to our current skills.”

“What were you previously?” Princess Vanescka swayed her dangling, bare feet.

“Students,” Sako replied. “Do you know how we can get back?”

“Nope. Not a clue. I’ve only heard of those things in stories. Didn’t think they were true.”

Sako sighed and had figured that would be the case.

“Daddy told me that he had told you about the problem with Lamentine, so I’m not gonna go into the deets. You gonna help us?”

Ugh. Selfish and unsympathetic, Kiyomi thought. Though she shouldn’t expect much from a self-centered brat.

“I sure will,” Sako replied.

“I won’t,” Kiyomi replied, “but Sako will be more than enough to match an army.” Even without Kiyomi’s buffs.

“Oh? I can’t wait to see that.” Princess Vanescka smiled.

In a few minutes, someone knocked on the door.

“What?” Princess Vanescka said.

The door opened and Le Francia stepped in, holding a tray with a teapot, an empty teacup, a bowl of marshmallows, and a saucer with broken up pieces of biscuits. She glanced at Kiyomi and Sako.

“Where’s the guard I sent?”

“He was summoned to tend to other duties, so he asked me to bring them in his stead. I owed him a favor anyway, so I agreed.” Le Francia set the tray down on a nearby coffee table.

They continued talking…

Kiyomi wouldn’t waste this chance. She made a quick wave at Le Francia. Her stats came up on a holoscreen before Kiyomi.

Class: Elite Royal Voidcaster

Voidcaster… Ooh. That’s so cool. She could be a high-tier mini-boss. But what sucked was that Kiyomi couldn’t see her skills unless Le Francia allowed it, since she wasn’t an official boss in the game. Once Le Francia gave that, the system would allow Kiyomi to take a peek. Unless… She wondered if there was an item or skill that allowed the user to see everything about a character even if the character’s details were hidden. She would have to research that. And she doubted Le Francia would be generous enough to consent… And it would be awkward to ask.

Of course, Kiyomi could easily top her stats with her buffs, especially because they scaled off her Intellect.

The floating sword beside Le Francia caught her attention next. It didn’t seem like her main hand. A sword typically wasn’t the style for a voidcaster. A voidcaster was similar to a wizard in that they cast spells too. The difference was their specializations.

She looked up and realized that Le Francia and Princess Vanescka were quiet, now looking at her quizzically. Sako was pressing buttons on her own holoscreen.

“What are you doing?” Princess Vanescka looked back and forth between the two of them.

“Just… looking at stuff,” Kiyomi replied, though Princess Vanescka seemed unconvinced.

Le Francia poured the milk into the cup from the teapot.

“Can I have some milk too?” Sako asked.

Le Francia looked at Princess Vanescka for permission.

“Do whatever you like.” Princess Vanescka crossed her legs.

“I’ll get another cup.” Le Francia made her way to the door, opened it, walked out, and shut it behind her.

Kiyomi couldn’t help it. She had to look at Princess Vanescka’s stats next.

“You’re a weird one,” Princess Vanescka said.

“Can’t help it,” Kiyomi mumbled. She scrolled down past the table and found a sweet surprise.

What in the hell? And who the fuck had 3 uniques and no other skills? She didn’t even know Level 0s existed. The combination of her stats and skills was ridiculous.

“Why do you look so shocked?” Princess Vanescka asked.

“…Nothing…” Kiyomi replied as she stared at her.

Le Francia came back after some time with another teacup and poured some milk into it before giving it to Sako.

“Thank you very much!” Sako took the glass with both hands and began drinking.

Anyway, Kiyomi got the answers she had been looking for—mostly, except for Le Francia’s skills. And now she could start her solo grinding while Sako did the quest. She got up. “I’d love to entertain you some more princess,” not really, “but I have stuff to do.”

“Aw.” Princess Vanescka frowned. “Alright. I guess I can’t keep you forever.”
