Summoned Into a Women’s World

Chapter 3: Come As You Are 3

Kael had fallen into a deep slumber just like previously, but this time something was different. Floating in an ethereal space, he opens his eyes and notices that this place is similar to when he was brought back to this new world.

In the distance, I see constellations softly moving across the dark universe. It was terrifying, yet so beautiful. I wonder why I was brought to this place. It’s like I’m forgetting something.

Maybe there isn’t a reason for it. I shouldn’t think too hard about it, as long as I’m not back in my previous life. I should be okay.

“I expected more magic prowess from him.”

“You are the one teaching magic to him. You should’ve done a better job.”

*What are those noises, who’s talking, am I still in the same place?*

He slowly opened his eyes, noticing the two girls, Elin and Vyra sitting in front of him as his head lay on someone’s lap. Their eyes quickly turned their attention to him, and it was visible that Elin gave a small smile, while Vyra seemed a bit frustrated.

Kael felt a hand gently patting his head. He was taken by surprise as he quickly turned up to see who it was.

“Do you feel comfortable?” Miria asked with a smirk on her face, and Kael rapidly moved away from her, feeling a bit embarrassed.

“Hello.” He struggled to speak, feeling a bit ashamed to have been rescued by them.

“Why are you like this? You did great. It wasn’t your fault that you lost. The enemy you faced wasn’t exactly like we expected.” Miria crossed her legs as her expression changed to a serious one.

“Wait, what do you mean you didn’t expect that? Didn't you say those slimes were stronger?” The man replied as he looked around, noticing they were at the carriage, and outside was already pitch black.

“Yes, we did expect them to be strong, but nothing like that. Slimes even the stronger ones, don’t use a lot of strategy to attack or adapt to their opponents. But that thing simply showed a mastery of its own Mana that was surreal.”

“So you’ve put me in a position to fight something stronger than it was intended?”

“It wasn’t intentional, of course; that thing wasn’t a normal slime to being with.” Kael eyes opened wide listening to that, that was could be described as a slime in every type of media he has consumed.

“That thing was a small Fragment of a Demonic Creature of this planet. It’s a bit hard to know exactly to whom this is from, but definitely it has a connection to the Monster Empress.”

“So that thing is bad news?”

“Bad news would be an understatement. If they are aware of your existence, they are probably ready to hunt you down.”

“Huh, So I should get a bit stronger; I nearly beat it when I had the chance. Just a bit more.”

“I don’t think you understand when I say fragment. That is probably not even 1% of her true power. You basically fought a walking bubble of her discarded Mana. And by how fresh it was, she might not be too far from us.”

“Wait what? Are you kidding me? There’s no way she’s that powerful!” Kael began sweating upon hearing it. He vividly remembers that he was forced to push to his absolute limits just to lose to a fragment of her Mana. It’s like the world is once again crashing down.

“As I said, I’m really curious to see what’s going to happen when you get on your own. If you struggled with that, I can only imagine how you will handle those types of scenarios.” Miria for once didn’t face him while telling him that.

“Don’t worry too much about me. I will take care of myself.”

“That’s cute. You really are as ignorant as you come. Why did your mind change so fast from the moment you agreed to become a sex worker?” The woman slowly turned to him, trying to see his reaction, and to her surprise, she could see a bit of regret in his expression.

“I said it already. I don’t want to live a life where I’m just a mere toy for others; I don’t want to be used and discarded. No matter how sweet this thing looks in the beginning, if I have a price tag, I will always be seen as a mere toy for even richer and more powerful people in this world to make use of me. In the end, no matter how good something looks at first, you only know the outcome when it happens in practice. And at the moment I slept with the Lamia I realized how powerless I was. If you weren’t there, I doubt she would just let me go away, but the same can be said about you, Miria. I’ve just met you. I can’t tell if you are good or bad. Furthermore, I just know that you really want me in your possession. I can't allow myself to trust you right now.”

He peeked at them to see their reaction after finishing his monologue. And it only reassured him that he was making the right choice. The three were treating him like he was a kid rambling about their own morals. It simply wouldn’t matter for an adult. Even Elin, who previously seemed supportive, started giggling.

The carriage kept moving throughout the night. The silent dusk had just a few noises as a background to his thoughts.

The awkward silence made sure that he would vividly remember his past life

Of course, he only needed the right words to confirm something he already knew.

Many of his previous bosses did the same, tell him he that the company was just a big family. That everyone was close friends and could provide for each other.

Of course, that would only be true if Kael could provide them with his hard work. Getting back late to his because they needed something and barely receiving for his efforts because, well, it was just a small favor that would hopefully be rewarded later.

He never was. Only in death that was fully clear.

In the end, the only thing that noticed his utmost effort was his old dog, who only had a few months of life.

His coworkers weren’t his friends, and neither was his boss. It took him a while to notice that, but deep down, he knew they didn’t live the same life. Anyone with a sliver of self-respect would leave; those who desired to climb the social ranks pushed others down, and the higher-ups made sure to time the ones that were still at the bottom.

Kael could tell that, the very smile they were giving felt awfully similar to the ones he felt before. Of prejudice to who he was. Without the power to change his own life, he couldn’t be acknowledged as his own person.

The only way was to become powerful enough to make his own decisions, and just hen he would decide what to do with his life.
