Tales of Death´s Daughter

Chapter 2.204

We had done it. The first step of giving Luna a new life had been a thrilling success. Even though I couldn’t feel anything as I caressed the skin beneath my belly button, I knew for sure that something unordinary was happening there.

My belly would remain flat for quite some time, waiting for the second part of the process to finish completely.

But we hadn’t even started yet. Luna’s soul was still inside the flask as Aska and I cuddled on the bed we used to make love on.

“Shall we?” He asked kindly which was honestly necessary considering the burden I would put on my shoulders by taking Luna up within me.

“No … we’ll wait.” I said, stood up and grabbed his trousers before throwing them towards him. Then, I wore my panties as well and cuddled back onto his chest.

Around fifteen minutes of spending out time like this, we both heard the giggling and laughing of the two girls I wanted to wait for. They barged into the room without thinking and all and smiled brightly as soon as they saw me.

“Lucy! Lucinda? Whatever!” Clara threw herself on the bed beside us and grabbed my hand to hold it tightly.

“It’s so nice to have you back!” Clarice admitted as well, robbed into my vision and hugged my whole arm.

“Hmm. It’s good to see you as well.” I told them rather happily and enjoyed their snuggling for a little while. But the night was close to ending and I wanted them to see everything as well with their sharpened senses.

Aska struggled a little to get out from underneath me, especially as the twins were still latching onto me, but managed to shove us down in the end. The twins complained a little but my heart was jumping in anticipation.

Readily, I laid down on my back again and pulled the two of them over to me, one by each side.

“I know it’s a little mean considering we have made this promise a few weeks … or days before tonight, but I want you to know that I found it. A way to make right what was wrong and one to fulfil my own desires.”

“Is he … your family?” A whole range of complex emotions appeared in their eyes from envy to desire and plain old hatred. They certainly didn’t like father figures, that was for sure.

“A small part of it.” I explained while Aska touched them one by one, temporarily granting them the ability to see souls. Their eyes lit up as they as they noticed the blue ball inside the flask. “She will be what I always wanted. She will be my family who will receive my unconditional love … and I will protect her from anyone who dares to mistreat her.” I glared at Aska, just to make sure we were on the same page about who I was talking about. “I owe her that much.”

“I’m so happy for you.” The envy was still there, if it didn’t increase severalfold. They wanted me and my love for them, that much was obvious, but I didn’t feel that way.

“It’s beautiful.” Clarice lied and extended her hand towards the flask in Aska’s hands, but didn’t get to touch it as he held it high in the air. She wanted to destroy the flask, that much was obvious. And yet, I couldn’t hate them for this attempt.

“Clara, Clarice … I have nobody to pluck that void in my heart. Nobody. I have good friends I wouldn’t discard … but someone who can heal my mental scars? Nobody. You two have each other, you have someone to who doesn’t think about him or herself the whole time.”

“You will throw us away after you got what you wanted, don’t you?” The thought did cross my mind, I wouldn’t lie about that. But as fast as it came it went as well.

“No I won’t.” I told them determined and grabbed their hand. “I … I wasn’t raised in the most optimal way. And I don’t want to make the same mistakes I had to endure. You two have an idealised version of what a mother should be, so teach me. And if you would be there for Luna when she needs help from someone from someone else … I would be glad.”

“You … won’t discard us?” Clara asked this time, still not very convinced by my words.

“I’m not going to lie to you … so if you hurt her, I will murder you without hesitation. But until then, you can be her aunts … if that’s what you want.” I was sure they would be eager to be that, even though I knew they would try to act more or less like older sisters. They still wanted what Luna was already getting.

“Okay.” Clara looked at her sister a bit uneasily.

“We will be her aunt.” Clarice’s happiness slowly pushed away all the envy in her heart and she managed to smile honestly for the first time since I told them what was happening.

“Can we pick out a name?” Clara asked sillily.

“I like Clarissa.” Clarice proposed which made me shake my head in denial. I definitely wouldn’t name my daughter after the twins.

“Me too!” Clara added.

“Her name will be Luna. It was and it will always be like this.” I said and nodded towards Aska. The soul floated out of the flask right away and hovered in the air above me while the twins hugged my arms tightly.

“There is only one point left to discuss. It is customary for gods to gift goddesses something when they start bearing a child. Is your vision during the day acceptable?” Aska asked, knowing full well I wouldn’t say no to that. With a smile on his face, he teleported the broken glasses into his hands and broke them instantly. “You won’t need them anymore after this, will you?”

I didn’t answer. My whole attention was upon the soul which suddenly flared up brightly as if Luna sensed what was happening.

“Are you ready?” He asked while pressing the soul down a little so that it was mere centimetres away from my chest.

“Yes. Do it.” My eyes were glued to the soul above my skin. Usually, two souls in one body ended badly for the weaker one insanely fast, but I had no doubts this would happen with me and Luna. It was a special situation after all.

As soon as the soul touched my body, a searing pain shot through my veins, not me cause my body was hurt, but rather because my barriers were fighting actively against Luna which had seemingly healed a bit already. The part of the skin it touched was quite warm, a sensation I only felt when I was close to life itself.

“Lower your barriers.” Flashbacks of the time when I wasn’t able to protect my memories and soul appeared in my mind, making me hesitate for just a second. I was conflicted.

Discarding the only thing keeping me safe from Aska’s power was a foolish idea, but on the other hand I could genuinely see that he wanted this to work as well.

“I will find out if you did anything to me.” And so, I gave myself to him completely. I allowed the soul entry into my body wile observing the death accompanying it. Closing my eyes, I felt how Luna’s soul entered mine slowly guided by Aska’s magic. My soul parted ways for her and closed up behind her once more, locking her soul into mine completely.

I didn’t sense Aska doing anything else and as I opened my eyes again, he nodded towards me. My barriers protecting my very core and now Luna as well reappeared instantly. Every outside influence was thrown out of my soul this instant, and yet I could feel Luna’s damaged soul pulsing within me rhythmically. It didn’t heal, at least not at a visible speed, but I still got the feeling that her soul returned back to life as it should be.

“It’s working …” I whispered amazed and touched the skin above my heart. She was there, I could feel her which was enough to make me happy. “We did it Aska!” I shouted out, jumped up from the bed and hugged him tightly. I didn’t know when I would be getting her back, but she was with me already and that’s all what counted for me.

“We surely did.” He told me joyfully and let me go to hug both of the twins who stood up as well tightly.

“Thank you for being there for me.” I told them while they pushed me down back onto the bed. Curiosity took the better of them as Clara placed her ear above my womb and Clarice above my heart.

“You won’t hear anything … but she is there.” I laughed happily and caressed Clarice’s cheek lovingly.

I wasn’t perfect. And neither were the people around me. But I still thought we could make the best out of our messed up situations and feelings. All of us.

And that included the twins as well. They sat up as they noticed my action of caressing Clarice’s cheek and looked at me with eyes full of desire. They both extended her hands to me at the same time and helped me up while I turned my attention inwards again. Luna’s soul was still pulsing rhythmically, embraced by my own own one so that she could become a goddess eventually.

But I certainly didn’t want to give birth to her while under the surveillance of other gods. And for that, I had to do something.

But that had to wait for another night as the sun rose slowly, turning the twins into a groggy mess and me into a cuddle monster. At least all the sorrow gripping my heart was finally lifted of my shoulders.
