The Prophet Didn’t Mean to Fall in Love! [BL]

Chapter 19: The Shifting Dungeon

Another really long chapter! \(T∇T)/ I'm kind of sad that this arc is coming to an end but I must continue, The next chapter will be out in a few days.

Viktor cleared through werewolves to reach the magic-user. He was determined to finish him off this time or to help Yue take him out. Mai was attacking any of the werewolves that were giving everyone else trouble, killing them whilst they were being held back.

“Why you!” The werewolf growled as his spell was interrupted by Viktor. He jumped back and suddenly howled. Viktor flinched and backed away a bit.

“Viktor! Mai! There are more mages coming!” Yue said through telepathy, his head was beginning to hurt from using his power for so long.

“Crying for help huh? Coward.” Viktor said and smirked. He hadn’t stopped casting his spell after he got sent to Yue’s memories, he had been mumbling or thinking his incantation even when he was staring shocked at the carnage of Yue’s bloody memory.

Yue hadn’t even realized until he saw a prophecy of ice spikes appearing from the ground and piercing all the werewolves that were fighting on the ground. He whipped around and saw Viktor’s magic circle being filled in and stared at it in awe.

“He’s crazy...” Yue murmured in Chinese and went on to continue his own spell since reinforcements were still coming in his prophecy.

Viktor’s spell activated and completely shocked the main mage werewolf as he was stabbed through the chest by spikes of ice.  He dropped his staff as he died and Viktor took a good look at it as he waited for the werewolves who were coming from the forest to catch up. He found a red gem near where the werewolf would’ve held the staff and smirked a bit as he plucked it off the staff. He placed it in his pocket and checked on everyone else. Everyone had taken the time to catch their breaths and get healed quickly by the designated healers.

He looked up toward Yue and tilted his head as a sign that he was asking how long it would take for his spell to finish. Yue responded by showing the number 2 on his fingers.

“Hold them back for two minutes, Yue’s spell will get rid of this wave,”  Viktor said to everyone through telepathy and got ready to attack.

“They’re seriously so different from us..” Marianne murmured as she healed Walter. Elizabeth looked bitter but she couldn’t deny that.

“What a showoff, how did you keep that spell going through all that? from a different location too...” Mai said and nudged Viktor a bit as she wiped some sweat from her forehead and flicked her sword to get rid of some of the blood on it.

“I just concentrated...it’s not that hard.” Viktor murmured and rushed to block a werewolf as the next wave came quickly.

Mai fought right beside him but. They both struggled a bit as the mages were using spells against them and they could only apply mana to their swords to deflect or cut through the attacks.

“Everyone get down!” Yue said through telepathy before he finished and activated his spell. It really didn’t matter as the spell had already found its target and would go around anyone who wasn’t the target but the attack would be stronger if it only went straight to the target.

The spell was a barrage of condensed fireballs that flew directly to their target and never missed. They always succeeded in burning their target alive but the spell took a long time to cast so it wasn’t ideal, especially when leading a group.

After this wave, they, unfortunately, couldn't catch a break.

“Viktor! Do you have enough mana for a barrier over us and the church?!” Yue suddenly asked through telepathy, not even bothering to ask just Viktor through a private channel.

“I do now…” Viktor said and picked gems from the ashes of the werewolves near him. They were smaller than the one he got from the talking werewolf and were green instead of red.

“Do it now!”

“Alright!” Viktor said as his mana barrier absorbed the mana from the crystals and left them colorless. A giant blue barrier appeared over the entire town and blocked a mass barrage of different spells coming from the forest. The barrier also made fog that was inside the area the barrier was protecting disappear.

“H-Huh?” Yue was shocked as he looked up at the complicated barrier spell that Viktor just cast.

“What in the world is that Viktor?!” Mai exclaimed, also shocked.

Viktor himself also seemed dumbfounded, he looked at the colorless gems in his hand and back up at the barrier spell. He had actually cast that spell before but he’d done so in the Ivanov family’s main house. The main house was a place known for its high external mana density. He didn’t think it’d be possible for him to cast the spell with internal mana at his current level. That meant the gems were actually very effective.

“How strong will this one be then…?” Viktor murmured, looking at the larger red gem.

The barrier spell didn’t disappear for a while and the werewolves that were casting the long-range spells became sick of it and went up to try and break the barrier with close-ranged spells.

Yue was curious about how Viktor suddenly cast the spell but he then felt a terrifying sensation. He panicked and placed his hand on the roof of the church tower, sending a sensor spell through the entirety of the forest and village even past where he’d ever gone. All of the werewolves that were left in the forest were right in front of them, either scratching on the barrier or waiting a little farther away. There weren’t many of them left so there wasn't much to worry about but one of them was different from the rest.

“Viktor, get rid of the barrier,” Yue said and jumped down to the ground from the church tower. All the other students were shocked that Yue didn’t even falter from the jump or the landing.

Viktor raised his eyebrow, something about Yue seemed off. His expression was a mix of terrifying and terrified. He removed the barrier and Yue cut through the Werewolves directly in front of him and ran into the forest. He had left his rapier in the church tower, only using his Jian sword because he was more used to it.

The werewolves were shocked and instead of attacking the rest of the students, they chased after Yue, labeling him as a threat to their leader. Viktor and Mai followed them to cut some down so they wouldn’t hurt Yue and some other students followed.

Viktor and Mai killed most of the werewolves without a problem but the few that were left behind managed to injure Elizabeth and Walter who had tagged along behind them.

“Yue where are you going?!” Viktor yelled through telepathy, noting how Yue was just cutting down every werewolf that was directly in front of him.

Yue didn't answer and only stopped to create a barrier around himself and the other students as a fire spell was blasted at them.

‘I can feel it. It’s definitely there, a fake magic core..’ Yue thought as he quickly killed the were that had cast the spell and he got to a clearing in the forest where a large hooded figure stood.

“So it was a sensor spell.” The figure said in German their voice low and similar to the other werewolves that could speak.

“You’re their leader aren’t you?” Yue said in German and gulped. His shoulder injury was throbbing and felt just as bad as it did the day he got it. The fog was also beginning to rid him of his ability to control mana at a very quick pace. This werewolf was the source of the fog.

The figure laughed and nodded before taking off his hood and showing his body that looked almost identical to the rest of the werewolves, just bigger and with a large scar over his chest. He held a staff like the other magic users but it was made of metal and had a large light blue gem in the center. He also wore what looked like a necklace made of rope and the same light blue crystals but a bit smaller.

“Give me your hair and your eyes and I’ll spare your lives.” The werewolf said and smirked, pointing at both Yue and Viktor.

Yue didn’t even answer and rolled his eyes, getting ready to seriously attack. Viktor also didn’t answer and just got ready to attack as well.

“If you don’t plan on surrendering your eyes or hair...die!” The werewolf said and used a barrage of quick spells to try and attack.

“Take the lead,” Yue said to Viktor through telepathy and dodged the attack while moving forward. Viktor followed his instruction and went ahead to attack.

Yue followed it up and made it harder for the werewolf to get on the offensive. Whilst they were doing this, Elizabeth and Walter cast protection spells on them so they could survive the fire magic-infused slash that Mai brought down on the werewolf. The werewolf kicked Yue and Viktor away so he could focus his strength on blocking Mai’s sword with his staff.

“I can keep this up for hours, you damn dog!” Mai said smirked, her fire magic only getting stronger and stronger. Her fire magic seemed to have sparked something in her, she wasn't usually that brash.

Yue actually didn’t manage to foresee that because of the fog so he stared for a bit, he’d never seen Mai use fire magic before and now he wanted to ask why since it was incredibly obvious that it was her strongest magic type.

“You!” The werewolf yelled as Mai’s flames started to melt the metal of his staff.

The werewolf smirked, removing one hand from the staff and placing it right in front of Mai’s face about to cast a spell. Mai couldn’t just back away, her flames were bright and uncontrollable as they covered her hands.

Luckily for her, right before the ice spell that the werewolf was going to cast hit her, Yue used a quick movement to nullify her fire spell and Viktor used a similar move meant to nullify the spell that was about to be cast on to Mai’s face.

In the split second between them both doing that and Yue jumping backward with Mai in his arms, he and Viktor met eyes. They were both surprised that the other knew how to cast the spell. After jumping backward with Mai, Yue set her down and rushed to attack whilst Viktor also attacked with a magic-infused slash.

The werewolf cried out and kicked Viktor away. He failed to move him very far but gained enough time to run away. Everyone joined together to start chasing him through the forest and Yue almost wanted to sigh as everything began to look exactly like his prophecy.

They were nearing the clearing and the dungeon was going to appear the second he cut the werewolf down, he wanted to groan and whine but there was no point in trying to change things, the dungeon would appear regardless. He infused magic into his sword and cut down the werewolf and then paused, staring as mana suddenly exploded from one point and the door to the dungeon appeared.

“A dungeon?!” Elizabeth exclaimed in horror.

“Fuck..” Viktor murmured, standing beside him.

“We can't deal with a dungeon all by ourselves..” Walter murmured, holding his injured arm.

“ Me, Yue, and Mai will go, you guys can stay here,” Viktor announced and got ready to step into the portal.

“No! I’ll go too!” William exclaimed as he finally caught up. He had actually been with them but had been trailing behind them so he could avoid getting hurt.

Viktor would’ve told him no just out of spite if Yue didn’t glance at him while mentioning that he’s completely uninjured and at full magic through telepathy.

“Fine.”

“I’m going too!” Elizabeth exclaimed, rushing up to the portal as well. She didn’t actually want to go, she was actually terrified but she wanted to show Viktor that she wasn’t just a nuisance.

“No.” Yue and Viktor said in unison, completely shutting her down.

“You’re injured just stay here,” Viktor said and walked through the portal without even listening to her protests. Mai followed him and Yue and William entered soon after.

Elizabeth huffed and rushed into the portal, not taking no as an answer and ignoring Alexius and Marianne who were yelling at her to stop.

Yue inwardly groaned when he realized that Mai and Viktor were nowhere to be seen when he entered the portal.

“Ow!”

“What the hell?!”

He turned around and actually groaned. Not only was he stuck with William, but he was also stuck with Elizabeth who had snuck in without even attempting to heal herself. He sighed and pointed his sword at Elizabeth’s chin, glaring fiercely.

“I hope you enjoy the negative points in putting in your report, don’t cause more trouble.” He said with pure venom in his words.

Elizabeth would’ve said something but more negative points weren’t worth it. Especially since she already got negative points from Viktor during this expedition. She was also probably the only person in the class who had gotten negative points other than William who only got a few for sleeping on duty.

Yue huffed and took in some of the external mana from the dungeon and used another sensor spell to check just where the boss room was and what monsters were on the way.

“Let’s go.” Yue murmured, choosing to go directly to the Boss room, hoping to meet Viktor and Mai there.

—-

Mai and Viktor found themselves together in the halls of the dungeon. They didn’t have the chance to ask about where the others might’ve ended up since they were attacked by monsters that looked to be half human half centipede. They quickly worked together to get rid of them and chose a direction to start walking in.

“Your fire magic is hard to control right? That’s why you don’t use it?” Viktor asked, deciding to just talk a bit while they walked through the halls, using Viktor’s insight to avoid traps and kill monsters.

“It’s very hard to control...My family has consistently raised mages with an affinity for fire magic but even they couldn’t help me control it...That’s why I went to the academy.” Mai murmured and sighed a bit.

They talked about random things for a while, it seemed to annoy the monsters that they were having a conversation and not paying attention to fighting so they continued with no regard to them.

“Those gems you took from the werewolves, those were man crystals right?” Mai asked, looking over at Viktor curiously.

“The mages had them on their staffs, they’re very good even though they’re low purity. Their leader dropped some too but I haven’t checked the purity yet..” Viktor murmured and showed Mai one of the green gems he got from the werewolves.

The monsters in the dungeon immediately tried to steal them from him but were quickly killed before they could get close. Mana crystals were incredibly rare and contained enough mana to power even ancient spells so even monsters wanted to get their hands on them.

—-

Yue seriously wanted to leave Elizabeth and William outside the boss room. They had been no help at all when dealing with monsters. Elizabeth didn’t try and William was a coward and just swung his sword at things with no technique.

He, unfortunately, couldn’t leave them since they were much more likely to die from monsters outside than from the boss if they were with him.

They stepped into the boss room and were met with an empty circular room full of doors and pillars. No monsters in sight, just emptiness.

“So...who is the strongest of you humans? Oh, I see, it’s you.” A disembodied voice said out of nowhere and made Yue, William, and Elizabeth all whip around looking for the source.

“Meet the one person you can’t defeat, human.” The voice said, suddenly becoming a lot closer to Yue. Yue’s eyes suddenly started showing him the future and he was shocked. He quickly used his sword to block an attack on both himself and the two beside him.

“W-Why is It you?!” Yue groaned as he looked at the person attacking him.

Elizabeth and William had no clue who it was but Yue was very much aware.

He was clearly fighting himself. He was wearing black and white Daoist robes and a round hat with a veil falling all around it to hide his face. He was sure as he felt the aura of the person he was fighting, that was the boss. The boss was a high-level shapeshifter.

Yue groaned as he fought, he couldn’t dodge certain attacks and so he got injured quite a bit even within the first few moments of their fight. Yue could tell that the shapeshifter was also copying his eyes and their ability. He was inherently weaker than the Yue whom he was fighting against. In the time between when he looked like that to now, he had lost a lot of muscle and he still wasn’t used to his new sword. He had also not been cultivating or training in martial arts as much as he did back then.

The longer the battle dragged on, the more Yue was starting to think that he might just die here. The Yue he was fighting was the Yue from just around 7-8 months ago when he was at his strongest point. He had become significantly weaker since then, so the fight was already hard enough but he was also already tired from all the fighting he’d done that night so the longer they fought the more Yue felt like he was going to collapse.

Worst of all, looking at himself from back then just brought back bad memories. He wished he could win with his eyes closed so he wouldn’t have to look at himself. He was too weak back then and he had gotten even weaker now.

Yue managed to block the shapeshifter’s copy of his old sword and held him back, he could only stand there trying to think of how he could win. Willian and Elizabeth were unable to help him. William had gotten knocked out a while ago when he tried to be the hero and attack from behind while Yue was blocking. Elizabeth, on the other hand, was just coming to the realization that she might die here. While thinking of what to do, Yue failed to predict that the shapeshifter would kick him right in the side at full force and knocked him back into the wall.

He should’ve been able to handle a full-force kick but he had been kicked right where he had been seriously injured in the past. He would’ve cursed if the pain wasn’t so strong he almost threw up. He coughed up blood and struggled to see clearly as he doubled over. He could barely sit up and his hand was shaking as he held his sword up. The shapeshifter was running toward him to attack again but then he froze.

One of the many doors to the boss room opened and showed Viktor and Mai who had been ready to fight but were now just shocked that Yue seemed to be struggling.

“Oh...a stronger person just arrived.” The shapeshifter said and smirked. Yue was once again reminded that he wasn’t actually fighting against himself as he heard the monstrous voice come from his mouth.

Mai and Viktor had rushed to cut down the shapeshifter but he changed shape and made Viktor freeze. Mai continued to run, angry that Yue was hurt.

The shapeshifter changed into a tall man in a white suit with white slicked-back hair and a beard. Viktor gulped and immediately stopped running and even almost let go of his sword before remembering that it was just a shapeshifter and not the real deal. He saw that the shapeshifter raised his hand and immediately panicked.

“Mai get down!” Viktor and Yue yelled at the same time.

Mai just barely reacted in time and slid onto the ground as the shapeshifter moved his hand straight across near where her head would have been. A wave of light came from it and a bunch of the pillars and walls in the room were cut by the attack.

Yue was relieved that Mai seemed to be perfectly fine and then tried to make himself calm down a bit.

‘I’ll tell you his attacks, just attack when you can.” Yue said through telepathy, still almost doubled over in pain.

Mai nodded and Viktor did the same after some hesitation. They rushed in to attack and dodged when Yue told them to. The shapeshifter was going to cast a different spell directly on Viktor and Mai after getting sick of having them dodge his attacks. He made the mistake of putting all of his attention on Viktor and Mai. Yue suddenly appeared in the air behind him and before he could turn around or even sense him, Yue cleaved him right in half with his sword which he had infused with blood and magic in the time that Viktor and Mai were fighting.

The shapeshifter changed back into its original form, a faceless featureless blob, as it was cut in half. Yue completely ignored the Monster core that had dropped out of him, almost dropping to his knees the second he was sure he killed it. Viktor quickly caught him and panicked.

“Are you okay?!” Mai exclaimed, also panicking. She looked at Yue’s clothes and noticed a deep purple and red bruise forming on his side near his ribs and cringed a bit at how intense it looked. Yue was unresponsive, it hurt to breathe and much more to talk so he just decided to not say anything at all. It was taking all his energy just to keep the illusion of his body up.

“Viktor, give me one of those mana crystals.”  Mai murmured and pulled off Yue’s blazer and pushed up his dress shirt a bit to expose his bruised side.

Viktor immediately gave one of the mana crystals to him and took one for himself after seeing the large bruise. They both used the mana from the crystals to cast high-level healing spells on Yue. Yue felt a lot better after Viktor and Mai managed to mostly heal him. His side was still a bit bruised and hurt but he could at least manage to speak and sit up.

“Ugh..” Yue groaned as he sat up and looked over to William and Elizabeth who had both been cowering together on the side even after the fight ended. Elizabeth looked calmer and was actually actively glaring at him.

He raised an eyebrow, trying to find out why when he realized that he was sitting on Viktor’s lap. He turned bright red but Mai and Viktor didn’t pay attention to it, they were too worried about him to even notice.

“I-I’m fine, let’s just go to the treasure room and take the dungeon stone so this place disappears..” Yue murmured, trying to get up.

Viktor lifted Yue up and was about to put his arm over his shoulder to help him walk but he figured that it’d be uncomfortable because of their height difference so he passed Yue on to Mai instead.  Mai helped Yue walk into the treasure room, careful about not touching his side.

The treasure room was large and filled with gold, jewels, and magic items. Yue looked over and sighed he didn’t have enough mana to use a spell to take all of the treasure back with them.

“Just take something you think will be useful and that you can carry..” Yue murmured, a bit sad that he had no strength to carry anything. He was curious about certain magic items but he was so tired he couldn’t even lift his sword.

Elizabeth and William looked at everything with glee, like most people, they were fond of gold and jewels. Mai had Yue sit near the altar where the dungeon stone was and went to look for an item that she felt a strong aura from.

Viktor just stood near Yue, taking a look around before sighing. He kneeled down and put his hand in the ground sending a pulse of mana through it. Yue looked at him curiously until he realized what Viktor had done. A bunch of items rose up from the mountains of gold and from the different altars in the room.

“These are all the actually useful ones..” Viktor murmured and had all the items come toward him except for a golden bracelet with a red gem that was floating right above Mai. The bracelet had been the item that she had been looking for so Viktor had it go into her hands.

Yue was curious about what made the items the most useful but he didn’t want to use his insight since he was still low in mana. He was drawn to what looked like a silver necklace. It had space for some gems to go but there were none there. He would’ve asked if the gems had fallen off but another item caught his eyes.

“That’s a storage ring!” Yue said with a bright smile as he pointed to a golden ring with a blue gem that was floating over to them.

“Should I use it to just take everything?” Viktor asked, inspecting the ring.

Yue quickly nodded, they needed to leave soon, and taking everything would leave them with no regrets over what they didn’t take. Viktor touched the gem on the ring and everything that wasn’t being carried or worn by someone was sucked into the ring.

“I wasn’t done look—” William whined, he had gold rings and bracelets down his arms.

“You can look later...maybe.” Yue murmured and rolled his eyes. He pointed at the dungeon stone, silently asking Viktor to remove it from its altar so they could leave. Viktor did so and helped Yue up as the portal to leave appeared. Mai rushed over to help Yue walk while she inspected the bracelet she had gotten.
