The Scientist of Monster Creation, forcefully Hired

23. Dungeon System, a really simple Overview

“Can I ask about Adventures?”

”Sure. Adventures are making about half of all Combat Professions.
Most are about fighting Monsters. A Good portion also about detecting the, maybe even avoiding.
Them some odd ones about trapping them, dissecting them and so on.”

”Most go into a Dungeon, commonly called “delving” when going in and out, or “dwelling” when preparing a base inside.
Since Dungeon Monster are also dissolving in Mana, but the Mana reforms into something, it’s preferred to hunt them.
The Art of Butchering, Dissecting or Dismantling, call it what you want, was also harmed by the System Downgrade.
So a Beautiful Fur is unimaginable to get, when not as a Drop. Are you even Familiar with the Part of Dungeons?
You are from another World, so I imagine that even dungeon should be strange to you.”

”Ohh, they are. I took it as an Opportunity to learn more about the Society.
Since I will be working with Dungeon Master, I will have enough chances to learn more.”

”Even tough you would have gaps in your knowledge?”

”I didn’t seem to get a better chance then that.”

”Hmpf. Then I congratulate you, since I will now give a full Teaching.”

The Goddess of Darkness was calmer when explaining, mostly occupied with reminiscing about Society of Mortals.
Now, she begins to get Cheerful again, wearing a satisfied Expression saying “Am I not nice?”.

”Dungeons have to invest Gold to unlock Features and then again to be able to use them on a Floor.
Let’s say, Floor randomisation. One has to buy it through Gold. Then someone can buy it to be used on a Floor.
Just because one unlocked the Ability to Randomise Floors, doesn’t mean it useable for every Floor.
Actually, by default, it unusable. Until one unlocks it for a specific Floor again, through Gold.
The Same with Monster and Traps. The difference is, that Monster and Traps are created through Mana.
More to that Later. Floor Randomisation will be added by default then.
How it affects the Floor is “willed”, one of the few instance we refrained from using the System because of the sheer complexity. “

“Now, you heard me saying Mana before.
Every Floor has a Mana Limit. It affects how much Mana can be invested in a floor.
Every Dungeon, without expectation, goes downwards. They have a connection to Mana-lines, from which they draw Mana from.
A the Closer they are, the more Mana a Floor has available, since it’s easier to draw on.
As a Consequence, the latest Floor has more Mana available, then it would have when not another floor draws from it beforehand.
Every Floor after the Last one, gets a bit weaker.
That’s because the Dungeon System uses that bit excessive Mana to strengthen the Last Floor, instead of adding it to the Mana Limit.”

”Every time a Floor gets added, the Floors before get weaker. But only the previous last gets significantly weakened.
Every other by a Margin of error, to be fair. Also because the Dungeon system regulates everything.
Other issue the Last floor could always draw all the Mana available, before even a drop reaches the upper Floors.”

”The Mana Limit determines how much Mana on a Floor can be used for upkeep.
That doesn’t include the destruction of terrain or similar.
But it includes how much Mana has to be used to respawn Monster, reactive traps and activate Floor Features.
Floor Randomisation will need different Mana upkeeps, depending on frequency, effect, and area.
Traps from being triggered or disarmed to be full functional. Not including the Upkeep when destroyed.
And the cost for respawning Monster. Some will need special Condition, other can cost less under Conditions.”

“Let’s say Robert. I don’t like him, but he is a perfect example for both.
He knows about the Art of Necromancy and is proficient in it. So he can reduce the Summoning Costs of Undead.
On the other side, Undead are being wich draw their Energy for something. Normally the Necromancer.
Now, they draw from the Dungeons, so Undeads have a high passiv upkeep.
Not something unique to have an Upkeep, but normally not significant enough to keep in mind.”

”Most creatures, even tough Spawned from Mana, can generate some for themselves.
Undeads don’t, so they are really special.
Another example would be bunnies. To create a Single one would be 10% cheaper than creating a whole family.
Just because having the Bunnies natural way to live suppressed would be expensive.
It happens to a certain extent to every Creature, but at such Times, it really makes obvious how such things can affect cost.”

“It needs time to accumulate enough Mana, usually 100 Minutes, roundabout.
It differentiate between Locations. It can also be further delayed by Destroying the Dungeon.
Depending on what gets Destroyed, the Dungeon System will priories fixing that.
But some stone, dirt or grass aren’t worth it. On has to destroy a Dungeon wall or something, which are tough and get tougher then deeper it goes.”

”Dungeon Master can also created rewards or assign that when certain Monster are defeated, the Mana forms something special.
By default, remaining Mana from defeated Monster, woch dissolve in Mana like i said before, takes on a form of a Body-part of the Monster.
Usually something eich had a lot of exposure in the fight, like teeth, claws, pelt or horns.
Maybe Eyes when the Monster uses Eyes or a special Organ wich it uses a Lot.
The System can assign it to form as something already manufactured.
Most Dungeon Master do that, since a big influx of goods disrupt research of Manufacturing.
Not many would want to create weapons, if the Knowledge to create better weapons is insufficient and the number of products is also superior.”

”A Tactic from Robert, which goes completely against what I intend.
And when you want to ask why I don’t interfere, my Sister said that I am not allowed.
With a Divine oath and all. And since it’s my Domains, no one else is allowed to interfere to.
Even tough my Sister sometimes riles her churches to cripple a Dungeon.
Meaning, the Dungeon is out of Commission for a decade till a century.”

”And my Sister can’t propagate the Church knowledge because of an Oath with me to not spread knowledge revealed through her further then a part of her church.
Maximum person Limit and so on, so that she doesn’t recruit every single being into her church to circumvent that.
And since she spurred her Church to research all that again, it counts as revealed from her.
So with other words, we calculated everything with us on mind and played our self by not considering what other will do.
Stupid of us, but the Survival of Sapients isn’t really on my Agenda, so it’s more infuriating to have tried and failed, then actually anything else.”

”…”

”? Ohh, we were by Adventures right? Sorry, I got a bit distracted.”

”Do you need some advice on how to console your Sister on that?”

”Not right now. She is sulking in her divine realm and doesn’t talk to anyone. But thanks for the offer.”
