The sword god turned into a blind fox girl

Chapter 7:Aftermath

Thanks again to @SpookeyTEK for Proof Reading once more, also chapter is a bit late cus SpookeyTEK was stuck in a road traffic for a while

"What you have witnessed was one of the possibilities of your many deaths, I cut through a dimension in which you experienced... true death." Blade slashed at open air, creating a rift where she stored The Dimension Severer.

"W-What are you talking about?" Kwat looked at Blade's back, partially covered by her tail.

"Your arrogance has a limit. I was once like you, young one, arrogant and prideful. Those emotions hindered my sight for so long." Her voice carries a hint of melancholy.

"It... cost me a heavy price." She placed her hand over her heart, and an image of an elegant figure extending her hand with a gentle smile floated in Blade's mind.

She had long discarded her emotions back when she attained godhood, yet the image of 'her' was still stuck in her mind.

"I wish you learned something from this exchange. Life has more than facing death in its face."

Blade did not want to linger more and turned to the referee and spoke.

"I surrender" Not waiting for a reply, she walked outside of the arena, everyone was too stunned to stop her.

In Maeral's office.

"Kwat... how are you feeling?" Maeral looked at her with worrying eyes.

"I'm fine dad, I just experienced something surreal." She touched her neck unconsciously.

'It's still intact' She reassured herself before turning to Maeral.

"So who was she anyway?"

"Well from what I learned, she's an immortal."

"Immortal? Like those from the stories you told me before?" Kwat remembered her dad would always tell stories from his village beyond the great forest.

"But... aren't they supposed to be weak?"

"From my village's story, yes, but not all humans are the same, and that also goes for immortals."

"Thankfully, she seems to be of good-natured one. If she had the slight intention of killing you, your corpse would long be buried by me."

"Try not to mess with her again, alright? My heart cannot take the thought of you dying." Maeral placed his hand on her head.

"I-I'm sorry dad."

"It's fine, now you can take the rest of the day off, I need to work on something."

~

After Kwat left, Maeral was left alone in his office.

Going to his desk, he retrieved the crystal ball that still contained the status of Blade.

His mana probed along the circuitry of the ball, adding a language chip he made with what he dubbed 'the old common language'.

After confirming it was correctly placed, he inserted his mana into the ball.

Looking into the projection displayed by the ball, it became clear 'who' Blade was.

"Ha ha… what kind of monster have we encountered? No... not a monster... a god."

"Miss Blade, please spare me a moment!" Ahlad who appeared from behind the counter rushed to the walking figure who's about to leave.

"?" Curious, Blade turned to Ahlad who was sweating a little, this commotion grabbed the attention of many people inside the administration guild.

"The guild administration expressed his apologies for his daughter's action." He gave her a pouch, which contained 100 gold coins.

In the morning, Blade wondered how to earn money, but now, she wouldn't have to worry about money for a while.

Satisfied, Blade thanked Ahlad and left the building.

"Hey, don't you think the administrator favors that girl too much? He first called her over to his office and he's now paying her? I wondered what happened in his office."

Rumors started to appear that the administrator had started a relationship with a fox-kin who barely looked 19. This rumor further got worse as one of the employees claimed he saw them kissing in the office.

But unlike the plummeting status of Maeral, Blade became a prominent figure who defeated The Demon Cat, and her new title became more spread among the people who saw the fight.

'The phantom' was her nickname now, referring to her instantaneous strike that struck down The Demon Cat with a single slash.

~~

Returning to the drowsy dean, Blade entered the door greeted by the Innkeeper who was smiling while flipping a silver coin.

"Hey 'phantom', what an amazing performance you did there, and thanks to you, I got some cash for myself as well." Kanski caught the coin and showed it to Blade.

Blade completely ignored him and went upstairs.

"Ohh how cold of you, do you like me that much?" His voice became fainter as she ascended the stairs.

"Oh! By the way, the baron might send more kidnappers your way. Don't worry, this knight in flashing armor will protect you so you can sleep beautifully without anyone disturbing you." Kanski looked at the disappeared figure of Blade before returning to flipping coins.

"I finally got someone who can get rid of that bastard. Just a little convincing and he'll be gone." A grin appeared on his face.

"Sis, don't worry, I'll be there to rescue you soon, just wait a little longer."

Then as expected, the Baron sent more kidnappers at night, but instead of 2, he sent 6 of them.

Of course, Kanski took care of them easily as the night slowly took in the morning.

~~

In the morning, Blade was stopped by Kanski before she could exit.

"Hey, aren't you annoyed by the constant kidnappers? Wanna stop them entirely?" This suggestion piqued Blade's interest a little.

"Honestly, I hated that Bastard Aaden. What do you say we assassinate him?"

"..." Blade stopped and turned to Kanski.

"Interested?"

"If you hate him so, why not kill him yourself?"

"Truthfully, when you first entered the city, I've gotten some intel that he's now targeting a silver-haired fox-kin" Kanski pointed at Blade.

"But after you appear at the door, oh, the satisfaction of luring the Baron's goons right into my doorsteps was quite satisfying."

"At first, I thought you were a weak fox-kin who unfortunately caught the eye of the Baron, but yesterday, you proved me wrong."

"As much as I hated the Baron, he has a powerful arsenal in his pocket, so I set up an inn as an Innkeeper to wait for a powerful person who similarly hated the baron to come knocking."

"And you came in." The Innkeeper smiled playfully.

"So, wanna kill that bastard?"
