The Widow “Misses” Her Villainous Late Husband

Chapter 125

She clearly remembered having her menstrual period during the past three months. Specifically, she remembered that at that time Aunt Lian had boiled two bowls of traditional Chinese medicine for her.

If she was really three months pregnant, how could she have had her period back then?

As she thought of this, Yu Duo sucked in a breath of cold air and looked up at the doctor who was currently talking to her about various matters she needed to pay attention to as a pregnant woman. Was this doctor a quack and misdiagnosed her?

So, in the end, the child is still not Fu Sinian’s?

The joy that had been rising in her like a flame was suddenly extinguished as if it had been doused by a basin of cold water until there was nothing left.

“What’s the matter?” Seeing the change in Yu Duo’s face, Fu Sinian suddenly asked in a low voice.

The doctor saw the situation, smiled, and said, “Actually Mr. Fu, this is what I planned to mention to you next. During pregnancy, the pregnant woman’s mood can be easily affected by the environment and it will tend to greatly fluctuate.”

Fu Sinian nodded.

By the time they left the hospital, the sun was beginning to set and, in order to avoid the exhaustion of travel, Fu Sinian decided that they would stay here for the night and return to S City the next day. Even until now, Fu Sinian never asked Yu Duo why she had been on that plane.

Similarly, as to why Fu Sinian had appeared on the plane, Yu Duo had her own tacit understanding.

That night her mind was very preoccupied and didn’t show hardly any of the joy she had shown earlier in the day when she first ‘found out’ about the pregnancy in the hospital.

“What’s the matter? Not happy about being a mother?”

Yu Duo wasn’t sure if maybe there was something in her eyes, or if the lights were just too dim at night, but when Fu Sinian put his arms around her and touched her belly, she thought that there was a gentleness she had never seen before in his eyes.

“No, I’m happy.” Just feeling a little guilty to make you feel happy to be a father.

Yu Duo sighed to herself.

Her current predicament was terrible, but she truly felt sorry to Fu Sinian.

Her mind wandered and she imagined the birth of the child, imagined Fu Sinian holding a child who looked seven or eight points similar to Ah Chi, imagined the ‘happy family of four, and Yu Duo couldn’t help but shudder.

She shook her head and forced herself to clear her thoughts. Since the dilemma that had been troubling her until now no longer existed, she could only take it one step at a time.

“Duoduo.”

“Hmm?”

“Thank you.”

…the feelings of guilt seemed to be getting deeper.

—–

The next day, the plane back to S City landed at one o’clock in the afternoon, and Yu Duo returned to the city that she had thought she would never go back to.

As she stepped off the plane, Yu Duo had mixed feelings.

In just one day, she had come back.

As soon as she returned to the villa, Auntie Lian bustled out, and as soon as she saw Yu Duo, she began questioning impatiently, “Oh, madam, where were you yesterday? Why didn’t you answer your phone? Did you know Ah Chi and I were going crazy with worry?! Sir? Didn’t you go to America? Why are you here with the madam?”

Yu Duo felt extremely guilty and could only murmur, “Auntie Lian, I’m sorry…”

Meanwhile, Fu Sinian was succinct, “It’s a long story. I’ll explain things to you later.”

Since Fu Sinian said so, Auntie Lian didn’t press any further.

“Well, I’m sure you’re tired after all this travel. Go up and get some rest first, I have some things to tell Auntie Lian.”

Yu Duo nodded and obediently followed Fu Sinian’s words, going upstairs to get some rest.

It wasn’t until Yu Duo’s figure disappeared at the top of the stairs that Auntie Lian finally asked, “Sir, what’s going on?”

“Duoduo is pregnant.”

“Pregnant?” Aunt Lian was surprised for a moment, but then a smile expanded on her face instantly. “What do you mean all of a sudden…”

Before she finished her sentence, Auntie Lian finally reacted.

This really was quite sudden.

The husband had been missing for three months, and the wife was pregnant?

And, looking at the madam’s belly, it didn’t look like a belly that had been pregnant for several months.

Auntie Lian asked carefully, “Ah, the madam is pregnant… how many months has it been? “

“Three months.” Fu Sinian said, “Auntie Lian, please pay more attention to the madam’s diet during this period of time.”

Three months…

Aunt Lian pondered for a moment and somehow felt something was amiss. However, Fu Sinian had already spoken and it wasn’t her place as an outsider to say anything more. Furthermore, she had taken care of Yu Duo for three years now and she knew very well what kind of person Yu Duo was. How could she be such an unruly woman?

“Okay, don’t worry. I’ll go educate myself on what pregnant women need to eat right away.”

Auntie Lian left with a twinkle of joy in her eyes.

Fu Sinian sat down on the sofa alone, then lowered his head and couldn’t help but chuckle with a bit of happiness. It was very mysterious. If he hadn’t experienced all of this himself, he would never have believed that there was such a wonderful thing in this world.

But Ah Chi…

As he thought of what Ah Chi had done, arranging a plane and a hospital that would perform an abortion for Yu Duo, Fu Sinian’s smile faded. He picked up his phone and dialed Ah Chi.

“Where are you?”

“Big Brother?” Yesterday, the people Ah Chi had arranged at the airport to pick up Yu Duo hadn’t met with her, so he had been almost crazy with worry. However, he couldn’t move with great fanfare, and he had no choice but to search for Yu Duo secretly. However, there had been no news at all even after a day and night and, just when he was about to turn to the police, he received the call from Fu Sinian.

“Come back now. I have something to talk to you about.”

“Come back? Big Brother, aren’t you…”

“I said, come back now!”

The line disconnected.

Even through the phone, Ah Chi could feel how terribly angry Fu Sinian was.

Hearing that, Ah Chi dared not delay another minute. He quickly spun the steering wheel, and his car arrived at the gates of the villa twenty minutes later.

He practically took three steps at a time in his rush to get inside and, after stepping through the door, he glanced around and saw Fu Sinian sitting alone on the living room sofa.

“Big Brother, when did you…”

Fu Sinian slowly raised his eyes. He glared coldly for a moment, got up, and said, “Come up with me.”

Being coldly scanned by those eyes, Ah Chi fell silent. Over the years, Fu Sinian had always treated him like a little brother, carefully half-teaching and half-rasing him. In the past, even if he had made a major mistake in his work, Fu Sinian wouldn’t look at him in such a way. What on earth had happened?

Feeling confused in his heart, Ah Chi could only swallow his words of doubt and follow Fu Sinian upstairs to the study.

“Close the door.”

Ah Chi turned back and closed the door behind him.

Fu Sinian sat down behind his desk and stared hard at Ah Chi.

“Is there something you want to say to me?”

Ah Chi couldn’t help but clench his fists. He didn’t know exactly what happened, but he knew Fu Sinian fairly well.

Since his Big Brother was already asking like this, clearly pressuring him, it meant that he already had some evidence or knew at least some of the truth.

But what exactly did his Big Brother know, and how much did he know?

“You don’t want to say?”

“Big Brother, I…”

“Did you know your sister-in-law was pregnant?”

Fu Sinian’s lightly spoken words exploded like thunder in Ah Chi’s ears.

Sure enough, Big Brother already knew about his sister-in-law’s pregnancy.

That’s right, for Big Brother, getting to know the results of her exam would be a matter of making a phone call, so how could it ever stay hidden?

“Big Brother, let me explain. This isn’t sister-in-law’s fault. You see, sister-in-law…”

Fu Sinian looked up and narrowed his eyes. “So you knew about this?”

Under Fu Sinian’s calm scrutiny, Ah Chi gritted his teeth and nodded, “Yes. I knew.”

Different from what he expected, there was no shock or anger. Instead, Fu Sinian smiled and said in a cold voice, “I really didn’t expect this. You’ve been by my side for so many years, but at some point, you’ve learned to lie and hide things from me.”

Ah Chi lowered his head in shame.

There was a long and heavy silence. Eventually, Fu Sinian’s eyes sank slightly and he asked, “Why didn’t you tell me?”

Ah Chi didn’t dare to say the thing that had been buried in his heart for so long, so he could only stand up and take the blame, “It’s all my fault!”

“Your fault? You mean the baby is yours?”

Fu Sinian had just been speaking casually, but it didn’t sound like that in Ah Chi’s ears at all.

And, since his Big Brother already knew about his sister-in-law’s pregnancy, it meant that no matter how she tried to explain, it would be futile. Even if she said she had been forced, Big Brother would not believe it. Unless…

Slowly, Ah Chi knelt in front of the desk. His brows were straight and his eyes were determined, he spoke in a heavy tone, “Yes!”

When he heard Ah Chi admit to this, Fu Sinian could hardly believe his ears. He sprang to his feet and rebuked angrily, “What are you talking about?”

Outside the door, Yu Duo had been secretly listening in and, when she heard this development, she couldn’t care about her fear anymore and just directly pushed the door open and shouted.

“Ah Chi, why are you talking nonsense? How could you blame this on yourself when it’s not your fault? If Si Nian hadn’t taken me to have an examination today where I found out that I was three months pregnant, I wouldn’t even know about it myself. How could it have anything to do with you?”
