Trapped in Paradise

Chapter 85

Chapter 85: The Counselor

Ning Chu looked restless, zoning out even during lunch.

Wen Yang also didn’t eat much, his mind occupied with one question.

What if Ning Chu really is a girl…

How should he treat Ning Chu?

Keep pretending he doesn’t know? Or tell the school to handle it? Or… turn his roommate into a girlfriend?

He quickly squashed that dangerous thought.

Ning Chu’s controlling tendencies were already edging into yandere territory—dating was out of the question! He’d probably need to file a report just to go out…

He looked up at Ning Chu sitting across the table.

With a youthful yet delicate and cute face, her features were almost as small as his palm, eyelashes shimmering, bright big eyes almost shimmering as if they had eyeshadow, adding a touch of allure to that innocent countenance.

That soft pink lips looked plump and glossy, tempting him as if he had tasted them in a dream.

Though the thought was a bit dangerous, it also seemed feasible?

“Where to next?” Ning Chu casually grabbed the last piece of pork from Wen Yang’s plate without greeting him.

“Shall we head back to the library?”

“Sure.”

Wen Yang was already used to sharing; in fact, most of the meat on Ning Chu’s plate had ended up on his.

This was mutual benefit, allowing them to enjoy more dishes.

After lunch, they returned to the library.

The library on the weekend felt a bit livelier than before, with over ten students focused on reading in the reading area. The quiet ambiance made it easy to hear the sound of footsteps, rich with a study vibe that reminded him of the high-pressure atmosphere before exams.

No wonder so many people liked studying there.

Ning Chu focused on observing the girls in the reading area.

One girl with glasses, a white-haired loli, a cat girl… around five or six girls, each strikingly pretty, every one of them could snag at least one tag in the Small Royal Text.

Even for himself, he could easily fit in with the keywords “trap” and “gender-bender”.

He cautiously pulled Wen Yang away from the girls and found a table in the corner of the reading area.

“I’ll go get some books.”

“Okay.”

Ning Chu casually grabbed a manga magazine from the shelf, occasionally glancing at Wen Yang who was lingering by the bookshelves, while keeping a wary eye on those girls.

Should be fine, although those girls were pretty, they weren’t at the level of plot-side characters—just passersby.

But Wen Yang was a guy after all, and his judgments relied on more than just aesthetics; it mostly depended on instincts and hormones…

The danger with passerby girls was that their behavior was unpredictable. Without being cautious, it would be easy for Wen Yang to miss out, but as long as he didn’t trigger the plot, allowing him to continue on this path was all that mattered.

“What are you looking at?” Wen Yang returned with two professional textbooks and, seeing the magazine in Ning Chu’s hands, asked with a smile, “Why are you reading manga?”

“It’s a day off,” Ning Chu replied, uncomfortably holding his stomach, “And my stomach hurts, so I can’t concentrate.”

“Want to go to the medical room or see a doctor?”

“……”

He fell silent for a moment, shaking his head firmly: “It’s nothing, it doesn’t hurt that much.”

Having chronic gastritis from his past life, Ning Chu had developed a strong resistance to this dull, nagging pain. If it became unbearable, he planned to buy some painkillers from the pharmacy.

“Don’t let a small ailment turn into a big deal.”

“Sure, don’t worry.”

Wen Yang secretly peeked between Ning Chu’s thighs, wondering where she could be hiding her sanitary napkins.

In the depths of the wardrobe? In some locked drawer?

But how did Ning Chu manage to change them normally? He had never smelt any unusual odors in the dorm, nor had he ever seen sanitary napkins.

Even if she had the chance to sneak off to the public bathroom, it seemed impossible because he was always with her.

Mystifying.

Even with the manga magazine, Ning Chu couldn’t focus, he could hardly sit still, his brows furrowed. After finishing one magazine, he couldn’t remember a thing about its story.

He only remembered that it featured some characters who were quite ample in certain areas and had generous benefits.

Just as Ning Chu was about to lose his patience, his phone in his pocket gently vibrated.

A bit confused, he picked it up, only to find a message from Han Jingye.

The counselor?

What could he want on a weekend?

He glanced at Wen Yang, who was still engrossed in his reading, then curiously opened the message.

“Why didn’t I see you on the registration form for yesterday’s sports meeting and New Year’s? Hurry up and sign up, you must participate in at least one event or competition this semester.”

This guy…

Though he knew these unreasonable demands from counselors usually came from the pressure of idiotic school leaders, Ning Chu still felt irritated.

He typed back nonchalantly, “I’m not good at sports and don’t have any talents.”

Counselors often use grades as threats, but in reality, they were pretty ineffective.

“If you don’t participate, I’ll deduct your credits.”

Just as he expected!

Ning Chu had graduated college in his past life, and he had been pressured into countless meaningless lectures because of credit deductions. It wasn’t until he missed one that he found out the counselor was just blowing hot air.

Despite his changing perceptions of Han Jingye, all counselors were the same everywhere.

Speaking of which, this long without any signs of perversion from Han Jingye…

Aside from the forced activity requirements, he was easy-going and diligent in other aspects, earning a good reputation in class, and Ning Chu’s impression of him continued to improve.

Perhaps the plot had been tossed into disarray; the butterfly effect had rendered Han Jingye’s storyline nonexistent?

After chatting for a few minutes, Han Jingye reluctantly typed, “If you really don’t want to participate, then fine. You’re an exception, just don’t tell others.”

Ning Chu’s lips curled up in delight.

“How has school been for you this past month? Are you used to it?”

“It’s alright, everything’s good.”

“Let me know if you face any problems in life. And pay attention to your health.”

“Okay, okay.”

Wen Yang noticed Ning Chu had been on his phone for quite a while, curiously leaning over to peek at the screen: “Who are you talking to for so long?”

“The counselor.”

“What does he want from you?”

Ning Chu didn’t hesitate to spill the beans about Han Jingye: “He’s trying to convince me to participate in activities, but he hasn’t succeeded.”

“Didn’t he say it was mandatory?”

Wen Yang looked at him like he was a naive child: “Just ignore him. He’s just a counselor; how much power could he really have? Mandatory, my foot~”

Wen Yang glanced at the chat history on his phone, muttering, “He’s not bad; he even said you could count on him for help if you need anything.”

“That’s what counselors are for.”

While that was true, Han Jingye’s image in Ning Chu’s mind still kept rising.
