Yugioh Card Summoner

CH.75 I don’t want to get up (also the rules)

I didn’t sleep well. It was a restless night, filled with nightmares. Well, not really. I was just spinning thoughts in my head. Alice really got me to realize something. I’m stuck here. I’ll never see anyone ever again. Everyone I used to know. Gone from my life.

I really don’t want to get up. I turn in bed and try to get back to sleep.

Grr. Who is disturbing my sleep? I finally felt like I could actually get some restful sleep, and immediately someone had to come bother me.

“Lord Brian, please wake up.” A soft female voice said. She was shaking me softly.

“...don’t want to…” I said and turned away from her. I know I’m just a moody teen, but at the moment, I don’t care.

“But you will miss breakfast.” She tried arguing.

“... don’t care…” I don’t have an appetite anyway.

“Please, get up.” She tried arguing.

“...” I didn’t respond. Just go away.

After a little while, I heard footsteps moving away from me, and the door opened and closed. Good, she left. I hope I can get back to sleep.

“Brian.” Oh, great. Who is it now?

“Brian. Wake up.” And now there is more shaking. Next thing I know they will be kicking me in my side.

“...what do you want…?” I ask in a groggy voice.

“Could you wake up? I need your help.”

“For what?” I asked.

“It’s Alice. She is in some kind of spell and I can’t get her out.” The voice of Christina told me.

“Alice? Why would she?” I open my eyes and turn to face the MILF sitting on my bed. She is a MILF and you can’t convince me otherwise. But she is off limits. Her husband is already mad at me and I don't want to face his wrath.

“I don’t know, but she is inside some sort of dark bubble, and we can’t get through to her.” Christina told me. “Would you help me?”

…Do I have to? I guess I do. I’m kind of responsible for her being able to use magic, so I should at least try. And all things considered, I’m also the one that likely caused her to shut herself in that spell.

“Fine.” I sat up on the bed. Other than Christina, one maid was in the room. I haven’t seen her before, I think.

(She has been present at the dining room when they have been bringing out the food.) Laura informed me.

I see. Well, anyway.

“I think I need to change first. Please give me a moment.” I told the two of them.

“Sure, but don’t take too long.” Christina said as she walked out with the maid.

Okay, now I need a plan. If Alice has locked herself into a dark magic spell, I need something to dispel it with. MST should work for that. I think I could also use Dark Magician or Dark Sage. They should be able to overpower the spell, even if it was cast by Dark Magician Girl, instead of Alice.

But I’ll need some more sacrifices for the toploaders, so I guess I should speedrun my daily packs.

I’ll start with the Dark Beginning packs today. That will allow for the best planning for the other packs I’ll open.

Spoiler

Nothing super good today. Magic Drain might be useful with Alice if nothing else works, Kazejin is a decent monster and I guess Left leg is a new Exodia piece.

(Laura, any idea what packs I should open?) I asked.

(You don’t have many good choices Master. This situation doesn’t call for power, but for reasoning. Alice likely doesn’t want to talk to anyone, but you need to try if you want to mend the damage you inflicted.) She told me.

(That doesn’t help.)

(Open Labyrinth of Nightmare. There is something that might help in that set.)

(Thank you.)

Spoiler

(By the way, what am I even looking for?) I asked Laura. She had some level of an idea, so I just went with it, but what am I actually going for.

(Darklord Marie.) Laura told me. (With it, you can fusion summon St. Joan.)

(Why would I need that?) I asked.

(If you need to go against dark magic, having a strong light attribute monster would not be a bad idea.) Laura reasoned. (One that won’t destroy everything.)

(Fine. I’ll accept that.)

Five more packs to go.

Spoiler

Oh. There it is.

(Was that all I needed for the summon?) I asked Laura.

(Yes, you already have the other cards you need.) She told me.

(Well then, I guess three packs of Invasion of Chaos it is.)

Spoiler

I guess Invasion of Chaos will never give me good cards. I guess I now have both pieces of Master of Oz, but I still lack the fusion monster itself. Perhaps I'll try to get Master of Oz tomorrow. It can take the place of Ultimate Obedient Fiend as my strongest monster if I get it.

As I was doing my pack opening, I got dressed and relieved myself.

So, for sleeves, I should probably sleeve the two materials of St. Joan. Then a toploader for the fusion monster. Also a toploader for Polymerization and Mystical Space Typhoon. That should be enough for this.

(Laura, do I have sacrificial cards for all of that?)

(I’ll make a list.)

Now you might be wondering, ‘Why do you need sleeves for the materials?’ and ‘Why waste 25 cards on something that would get a free sleeve?’. But I have a reason for that.

With just a sleeve, St, Joan will have the long cooldown timers, so a toploader will be nice to have. And if I sleeve the materials, they won’t disappear. They will just be unusable while I have access to St. Joan. And if St. Joan was to ever die, I could just summon it again if it is in a toploader and I have the materials for it. I also did get De-Fusion, so I can use that to regain access to the fusion materials.

4x 7, A Deal with Dark Ruler, Agido, Altar for Tribute, 2x Amphibian Beast, 2x Amphibious Bugroth MK-3, Attack and Receive, 3x Avatar of The Pot, Battle-Scarred, Blast Juggler, Blind Destruction, Boneheimer, Bowganian, Burning Land, 2x Cannonball Spear Shellfish, Chaos Greed, Crimson Ninja, 4x Crimson Sentry, Cyber Raider, Darkfire Soldier #1, 3x Darkness Approaches, Dreamsprite, 2x Earthbound Spirit, Electric Snake, 6x Elephant Statue of Blessing, Fake Trap, Fenrir, Feral Imp, 2x Flame Dancer, 2x Flame Manipulator, 3x Gadget Soldier, 2x Gora Turtle of Illusion, 2x Grand Tiki Elder, Grave Protector, Graverobber's Retribution, Headless Knight, Humanoid Worm Drake, 2x Jinzo #7, 2x KA-2 Des Scissors, Kojikocy, Kozaky, Lady Ninja Yae, Lesser Dragon, Maryokutai, 3x Melchid the Four-Face Beast, Metal Fish, Minor Goblin Official, 3x Mystik Wok, 2x Night Assailant, Nobleman-Eater Bug, Nubian Guard, Nuvia the Wicked, Offerings to the Doomed, Ojama Delta Hurricane!!, Ojama Yellow, Old Vindictive Magician, Otohime

85 cards. That should make the toploaders and sleeves that I need. Let’s do it.

First the toploaders for MST, Poly and St. Joan. Then the sleeves for the Darklord Marie and The Forgiving Maiden.

I think that will do it. I have a plan and I won’t stick to it. Because I’m not planning on killing Alice.

...Actually, when was the plan to kill Alice? Well I'll just do what I do best and go with the flow.

...Wait a second. Am I becoming Yuma? I'll accept that.

I go out of my room, and there waiting for me is Christina and the maid. Let’s hope this plan works. Then again, I already said I won't stick to it.

So admittedly I have not done a perfect job within the series in explaining some limitations and rules of these cards, so I’ll tell some of them here, and explain why Brian used sleeves and toploaders in the way he did.

For monsters. Monsters without a sleeve cannot be used again. I hope this part has been clear. They will disappear after one use.

A monster in a sleeve can be summoned again and again, as long as the monster doesn’t die while summoned. The cooldown on them is 10x the summoning time. So if Brian keeps a monster in a sleeve summoned for 2 hours, it has a cooldown of 20 hours.

A monster in a toploader is resumonnable. Has a cooldown equal to its summon time. Aka. being summoned for 2 hours means a cooldown of 2 hours. And if the monster were to die, it will enter a 24 hour death cooldown, and it can be summoned again after the death cooldown.

Spells and traps in a sleeve will still be consumed at use, except for continuous, equip and field spells. And continuous traps. They will follow the same cooldown rules as monsters. This is because of how mana (not the character but the resource) interacts with the cards. The quick release of mana from normal spells (and all the other spells) is too much for a sleeve, but continuous ones are slower in the mana release, so they can be used more similar to monsters. But again, if a continuous spell or trap were to be destroyed or negated by outside interference mid use, the card would be lost.

For spells and traps in toploaders. If they are normal/quick-play/ritual/counter spells or traps they could be used and then enter the 24 hour ‘death’ cooldown.

Continuous and equip spells and traps in toploaders would follow the ‘cooldown equal to how long it was active for’ rule. And if interfered (aka destroyed) mid use, they would enter the ‘death’ cooldown of 24 hours.

Now for the extra deck (and other special summoned garbage)

Monsters that are special summoned with a condition get a ‘free’ sleeve on summon. This sleeve comes at the price that a toploader cannot be placed onto it, so if you want a toploader on a special summon monster, you better put one on it before you summon it for the first time. (The sleeves and toploaders follow the normal cooldowns) (By returning the summoned monster to the hand with a card effect, aka. unsummoning it, the free sleeve would be lost and then a normal sleeve and toploader could be placed onto that card. And then that card would need to be properly summoned again.)

Monsters that have to be properly summoned every time, have to be summoned with their condition every time. (Exceptions might come as new cards come, but this is the general rule.) But ones that don’t limit it, only have to be properly summoned for the first time, and can be summoned like any other monster the following time. (Like we have seen with Performance of Sword.) But if a monster summoned with a condition dies and recovers wia the toploader’s death timer, it has to be properly summoned again.

Then to answer, why do you need sleeves on fusion materials? This is because using cards that don’t have sleeves would mean they are consumed at the moment of the summon. This means if Brian were to use three unsleeved Blue-Eyes as materials for ultimate dragon, along with an unsleeved polymerization, the three blue-eyes and the poly would be lost, and the ultimate would gain its free sleeve.

But if monsters in sleeves are used, they will enter a ‘limbo’ state, where they won’t be consumed, but cannot be summoned until the fusion monster either dies or is dismissed by other means. (De-fusion, Compulsory Evacuation Device, etc.) After that they are usable like normal and could even be used again to summon the same fusion monster. (The cooldown of 10x the last summon time of the fusion monster still applies.)

If a toploader monster is used as a fusion material, it will enter the 24 hour ‘death’ cooldown and will be normally usable after that. If the material was a special summoned monster (for example using Blue-Eyes Ultimate to go into Dragon Master Knight) it would need to be properly summoned again.

I hope this has everything I wanted to say. Please ask questions and point out things I forgot in the comments and be sure to check them out. I might also add all these rules to a separate chapter eventually, with the additional info from the comments.
