'Amazing… Shisui still managed to fight back despite being so disadvantaged.' Itachi thought as he chased Shisui but from a distance. But before he decided to catch up, Itachi arranged the bodies and burnt them to ashes so as not to leave any evidence behind the cause of their deaths.
 
'Ugh… the poisons getting to me. Even though I didn't fully manifest my Susano'o so as not to use much chakra to help the poison circulate faster, it's still spreading.' Shisui thought as he slowed down against his will and soon fell off a tree branch he was supposed to step on to continue his run.

 
'Damn it!' Shisui cursed in his mind.

 
'I felt my needle attack from the Susano'o will drain me so I used the lance instead as a sword to cut them to preserve chakra. After my fight with Gilgamesh, I subconsciously thought my needles weren't fast enough but they were. These guys couldn't even react to my lance attack much less those needle bullets… ugh.' Shisui thought to himself as he crouched in pain.

 
"Shisui! Are you alright?" Itachi said as he crouched near Shisui to aid him.

 
"Haha, after getting Sasuke home, I thought you were supposed to be on a mission." Shisui asked with a smile as blood trickled down his mouth.

 
"Something felt off and I decided to come check." Itachi said with a sad expression as he picked Shisui up.

 
"Well, I am glad you did… sorry for the trouble." Shisui responded and soon left with Itachi to their training area.

"The foundation is involved…"Shisui said while looking at a waterfall down below from a cliff.

 
"…Unfortunately, it seems like there is no way to stop the Uchiha's coup. If internal warfare breaks out in the leaf…" Shisui said.

 
'These bastards, don't they know in-fighting will only attract the other big villages to come and take what's left? Especially the hidden stone village, they would probably be the first to strike, those guys are as stubborn as a rock!' Itachi thought as he could guess where Shisui was trying to arrive.

 
"…The neighbouring villages will invade, and the war will begin." Shisui ended the point and then turned to Itachi with one eye closed the supposed eye that was collected by Danzo and one open, revealing an activated Mangeyko Sharingan. Shisui could now decide to put Itachi in a controlled genjutsu which will show Shisui begging Itachi to take his life so Itachi would trigger a reaction in his emotional state, causing his Mangeyko Sharingan awakening.

 
"I was planning on stopping the coup with Kotoamatsukami, but Danzo took my right eye." Shisui lied through his teeth.

 
"He didn't trust what I was trying to do, and he will resort to anything to protect the hidden leaf village. They'll probably come after my left eye too."

 
Taking a deep breath and deciding against Gilgamesh's plan but feeling no pain in his body due to that action turned to the side, "Before that happens, I want you to have it." Shisui said as he gouged out his left eye and turned to Itachi.

 
"Shisui…" Itachi said in a sober tone.

 
"You are really the only friend I can trust after all I have been through for some time now." Shisui said with a smile trying to comfort Itachi and also trying to make the most out of the situation.

 
'Should I tell him about Gilgamesh?' Shisui thought but felt no pain in his body for thinking about exposing Gilgamesh.

 
'Since the effects of his sealing jutsu aren't effective now. I think now is the best time for me to die and leave things to Itachi. How sad, the burden of the whole village will rest on someone so young.' Shisui thought as he accepted the outcome in his mind.

 
"Protect the village and the Uchiha name as well." Shisui said as he called down a crow from the night sky. He then instructed the crow to follow Itachi for the rest of his life and the crow dispersed around Itachi into black feathers.

 
Shisui would then proceed to tell Itachi about how he unlocked his Mangeyko Sharingan and how shameful he felt about it. He told Itachi he left his friend behind when they were attacked by the previous shinobi and that the guilt he felt was what made him awaken his Mangeyko Sharingan.

 
"I also have another gift to give you. Shisui said as he felt the poison in his body bringing him closer to death.

 
"The Mangeyko Sharingan." Shisui said with conviction in his voice.

 
"No… Shisui… you can't!" Itachi said as his heart sank, he knew the meaning behind those words and didn't like any of that.

 
"What's with that look of yours? Even without eyes, I can still see your face you know." Shisui tried to joke but Itachi wasn't buying.

 
'Shouldn't I just let him kill me to awaken his eyes? Then have him meld my eyes into his eyes so he can awaken the eternal Mangeyko so he may have eternal light, light that does not fade into darkness. With this, he will have more than a chance against Gilgamesh no matter how strong Gilgamesh gets in the future.' Shisui thought and ignored the sharp pain in his body caused by his insubordinate thoughts but the poison was already numbing out his pain so he could manage it.

 
"A worried expression doesn't look good on you, you must always remain calm. That's what Itachi Uchiha is. I'm positive you can do this so don't worry." Shisui said as he patted Itachi on his shoulders.

 
"The path you will walk now will be a long dark path, one that is filled with pain and suffering. I'll have to apologize that I can't be there to suffer with you." Shisui said as he squeezed on Itachi's shoulders. His body kept generating pains since he was trying to deviate from Gilgamesh's plan but Shisui had already accepted his death.

 
"Still I hope you don't falter from your path. Keep moving forward as a leaf ninja. I believe in you." Shisui said as he released his grip on Itachi. Itachi fought back tears and simply tried to remain calm since Shisui wished to see him that way.
 

Releasing a sigh Shisui prepared himself, "Thank you… for everything. Make your own path."

 
Flashbacks of time spent with Shisui ran through Itachi's mind in seconds, he couldn't believe what was about to happen.

 
"You don't even need to kill me with a kunai, only a push will do the job." Shisui said as he looked over the cliff as Itachi inched closer to him slowly.

 
"Goodbye friend… Make sure to carry on with the mission," were Shisui's last words as he fell into the ravine. His last words were not I love you or I'll miss but carry on with the mission goes to show how he only thought about the village and his narrowed view of protecting it.

 
Suddenly, Itachi felt a pulse in his eyes and the world appeared different in front of him… he had succeeded in unlocking the Mangeyko Sharingan!
