CHAPTER 315

Chapter 315: Lessons of Divinity Part 2

Jiu Han briefly mentioned the mutants and the Subverters, then continued, “You’re a Tribulation Transcendent yourself and are qualified to participate in this generation’s Heaven Ascension Stairs. However...”

At this point, Jiu Han hesitated for a moment but left the rest unsaid.

“Anyway, the day the Heaven Ascension Stairs open could be a few years away, so don’t dwell on it for now,” Jiu Han advised.

Lu Ming nodded. “I understand, Teacher.”

This time, he truly understood something. If they hadn’t previously discussed the analogy of the gardener, flowers, and plants, Lu Ming might not have fully grasped the deeper meaning of Jiu Han’s words.

But now, after Jiu Han’s explanation, Lu Ming had a vague realization.

Even gods might have their own limitations...

Jiu Han, already at the Divine Realm, using metaphors like "the backyard" and "gardener" hinted at something more profound.

Seeing Lu Ming’s solemn expression, Jiu Han nodded in satisfaction. “It’s good that you understand.”

“So, the best path for you is actually the second path.”

“Become a mutant! Become a malevolent plant that can kill and consume the gardener!”

“With me here, you won’t need to worry about anyone trying to suppress you prematurely. I will protect you fully.”

“Now the question is: how do you become a mutant, and how do you transform into a malevolent plant?”

Mutation, however, was uncontrollable.

Becoming a mutant required a series of fortunate coincidences.

“Yet, there is one stable and reliable path,” Jiu Han continued. “That is the path of Primordial Patterns.”

The legend of the Beast King was well known throughout the Black Mist Zone. Like others, Jiu Han had studied the legend of the Beast King carefully.

“It’s confirmed that the Beast King possesses power equal to or even beyond that of the gods, yet it is not a god.”

“And it’s also confirmed that the source of the Beast King’s power lies in Primordial Patterns.”

Lu Ming raised an eyebrow. “Are Primordial Patterns really that powerful?”

Jiu Han nodded. “Very powerful. The strength of Primordial Patterns far surpasses that of gold or silver patterns.”

“But compared to the Divine Origin, they are still inferior. However, the Beast King had many Primordial Patterns, and according to my calculations, once 9,999 Primordial Patterns are combined, they could rival the power of the gods. The Beast King likely possessed even more than that.”

Lu Ming blinked in surprise. “9,999 patterns?”

“Of course,” Jiu Han said, his tone firm. “Think of the Divine Origin as a form of energy. The key issue is that its intensity and density are incredibly high.”

“If you can’t achieve godhood, there’s no way to match gods in terms of energy density. The only way to compete is by overwhelming them with sheer quantity.”

“The Beast King’s path is one of winning through quantity.”

“And this is the only controllable way to achieve the status of a mutant—comparable to gods—while still retaining a mortal body.”

Lu Ming fell silent.

9,999 Primordial Patterns...

At this moment, Lu Ming didn’t even have one...

After a moment of contemplation, Lu Ming asked, “According to your calculations, how long would it take me to obtain 9,999 Primordial Patterns?”

Jiu Han shook his head. “I don’t know... but it’s unlikely to happen quickly. You may reach the limit of your lifespan before you achieve the level of the Beast King.”

Lu Ming felt a knot in his stomach.

He had always known that challenging the gods as a mortal would be difficult.

But he hadn’t expected it to be this daunting.

Jiu Han continued, “After seeing your talent and dedication, I initially thought to guide you along this path... Even if you don’t reach the heights of the Beast King, it’s still beneficial to cultivate more Primordial Patterns.”

“But today, I’ve had a change of heart.”

Lu Ming looked up. “What changed?”

“We have a better option,” Jiu Han replied, smiling. “The Divine Origin.”

Seeing the astonished look on Lu Ming’s face, Jiu Han continued, “To be honest, whether achieving godhood is a blessing or a curse is still up for debate, but that has nothing to do with the Divine Origin itself.”

“As I mentioned earlier, the essence of the Divine Origin is merely a form of high-level energy. Energy itself is neither good nor bad.”

“Your unique ability is that you can absorb Divine Origin.”

“Although I still don’t know where the Divine Origin you’ve absorbed goes, if you can figure that out and learn to harness it... then you’ll become an extraordinary being with divine power, even without ascending the Heaven Ascension Stairs!”

With that, Jiu Han chuckled to himself. “Don’t overestimate the Divine Realm.”

“The only real difference between the Ancient Realm and the Divine Realm is the Divine Origin!”

“And even then, once we achieve godhood, our physical state becomes fixed. There’s no further room for growth.”

“But if we can realize my vision, not only will you possess divine power, but you’ll also have the potential for unlimited growth!”

“If you can walk this path, it will be an unprecedented journey to heaven—one that belongs to you alone.”

Jiu Han’s words left Lu Ming stunned once again.

“Wait a minute, Teacher, you said achieving godhood fixes your physical state...?”

Jiu Han nodded. “You heard correctly.”

“At the moment of ascending the Heaven Ascension Stairs and undergoing the transformation into the Divine Origin, your power is completely solidified. There’s no room for further advancement.”

“In other words, gods don’t have the potential to grow stronger.”

How strong you are when you ascend the Heaven Ascension Stairs is how strong you’ll remain after achieving godhood. The only difference is the strength of your Divine Origin.

For most gods, this wasn’t a problem.

Divine Origin can crush everything. Why would I need physical strength? Why would I need gold, silver, or Primordial Patterns?

But for Lu Ming, this was a hard truth to accept.

He loved cultivation—the feeling of continuous growth, of becoming stronger.

So, upon hearing this, his emotions swirled in turmoil, leaving him unsure of what to think.

Jiu Han continued, “This is why you now have three choices.”

“First, the path to achieving godhood. With your talent, I believe that when you ascend the Heaven Ascension Stairs, no one will be your match.”

Given Lu Ming’s exceptional talent, it was highly likely—though not guaranteed—that he would achieve godhood. But as Jiu Han had already mentioned, this path had its drawbacks: the inability to continue growing and the constraints that came with it.

Still, the benefits were undeniable. It was simple, fast, and efficient—one step to ascend to the heavens.

“Second, the Primordial Patterns Path.”

This path was stable but slow.

“And third, the unknown path we’ll explore together.”

This path was entirely uncharted territory, with its pros and cons still unknown. Whether it would succeed remained a mystery, and the effects of absorbing large amounts of Divine Origin on Lu Ming were uncertain.

“But I could pursue all three paths simultaneously,” Lu Ming mused, then replied aloud, “When the Heaven Ascension Stairs open, I’ll decide whether to participate. In the meantime, I can’t afford to neglect my cultivation.”

“While I’m cultivating, Teacher, we can research this unknown path together. Once we’ve made some progress, we can discuss it.”

The three paths didn’t necessarily conflict with one another. At the very least, they could be pursued in parallel in the early stages.

Jiu Han was pleasantly surprised by Lu Ming’s calm and logical approach. After a brief pause, he nodded.

“That sounds good.”
