CHAPTER 316

CHAPTER 316: Lessons of Mystical Patterns

The general direction was set, but the first lesson was far from over.

You could say that the conversation between Jiu Han and Lu Ming was merely a rough outline of the lesson. There were still many intricate details Jiu Han had to teach Lu Ming.

“First, let’s address the issue of mystical patterns.”

“There are three types of mystical patterns: Primordial Patterns, Gold Patterns, and Silver Patterns.”

“Primordial Patterns are called the Eye of Flesh and Blood, Gold Patterns are known as the Foundation of Matter, and Silver Patterns are referred to as the Source of Mystic.”

At this point, Lu Ming raised his hand.

“Teacher, to be honest, I still have some doubts about the mystical patterns.”

Jiu Han nodded. “Go on.”

“I had an encounter once, where a senior hinted that the Path of Silver Patterns isn’t reliable. Is there any truth to this?”

Jiu Han smiled. “Your senior seems to have good insight.”

“To get straight to the point, it’s true. However, this statement has its limitations.”

Jiu Han turned to the blackboard and began writing. At the top, he wrote “Divine Origin,” and below it, the terms “Eye of Flesh and Blood,” “Foundation of Matter,” and “Source of Mystic.”

“Now, if I’m not mistaken,” Jiu Han continued, “your senior must also be researching the path of mutants.”

He elaborated further: “These four elements can be seen as types of energy, or, if you prefer, as a form of authority.”

“Among them, the Divine Origin holds the highest authority and the greatest energy density. The Eye of Flesh and Blood comes next, followed by the Foundation of Matter. At the lowest end is the Source of Mystic, represented by the Silver Patterns.”

“But there’s a particular issue with the Source of Mystic—its nature is similar to the Divine Origin, but its essence is several levels lower.”

Jiu Han paused before asking, “Do you know what drives people to research mutants?”

Lu Ming hesitated before responding, “To challenge the gods using mortal bodies?”

“Exactly,” Jiu Han nodded. “That is the ultimate goal of the Flame Clan’s research into mutants, which is similar to your own path.”

“Now, can you guess what happens when the Source of Mystic, represented by Silver Patterns, encounters the Divine Origin?”

After a brief pause, Lu Ming answered, “If their nature is the same, wouldn’t they… assimilate?”

“Correct, they will assimilate,” Jiu Han confirmed. “The upper limit of the Path of the Source of Mystic is too low. Even if you had billions of Silver Patterns, the weakest of gods, such as Moonfiend, would easily overpower you.”

“The strength of the Silver Patterns is far inferior to both the Primordial Patterns and Gold Patterns, making this path incredibly weak and hardly worth pursuing.”

Jiu Han continued, “Not only does the Source of Mystic have a low ceiling, but its floor is also incredibly low. No matter how much you accumulate, you would still be suppressed by the Divine Origin, and your abilities would never achieve a true qualitative transformation.”

He added, “Personally, I don’t recommend cultivating the Silver Patterns of the Source of Mystic. When they encounter the Divine Origin, they can be assimilated, or worse, controlled by the enemy, turning them into a weapon against you. This may be why your senior warned you that the Path of Silver Patterns is unreliable.”

Lu Ming nodded in agreement, starting to comprehend the limitations of the Silver Patterns.

“However…” Jiu Han suddenly shifted the tone. “Your Silver Patterns are different.”

“Yours have mutated—likely due to your unique physique.”

Jiu Han paused slightly before continuing, “When I checked your body earlier, I tried to use the Divine Origin to manipulate your Silver Patterns, but it was impossible.”

“This suggests that cultivating Silver Patterns might be viable for you.”

“Is there no risk?” Lu Ming asked.

Jiu Han smiled wryly, shaking his head. “I don’t even know why your body can absorb the Divine Origin or why your Silver Patterns have mutated. How could I be certain there’s no risk?”

In other words, Lu Ming was an anomaly, and Jiu Han had no basis for comparison. To avoid leading his disciple astray, he refrained from making definitive statements about crucial matters.

After a moment of contemplation, Jiu Han continued, “What I can say for sure is that for you, Primordial Patterns are superior to Silver Patterns. Though the formation of Primordial Patterns might be slower, once you have them, your strength will be greater, and the overall benefit will outweigh the Silver Patterns.”

Lu Ming nodded. “I understand.”

Since Jiu Han recommended it, Lu Ming decided to focus on the Body Forging technique. To him, the path mattered less than achieving strength.

“Now, let's move on to your Body Forging technique.”

“What kind of Body Forging technique are you cultivating?”

“The Flame type Body Forging technique at the Physique Realm,” Lu Ming answered honestly.

For experts of the Ancient Realm, the Physique Realm Body Forging technique was too low-level, providing minimal increases in physical strength with each cycle.

Instead of urging Lu Ming to change his technique immediately, Jiu Han simply asked, “What’s your current proficiency level?”

“Perfect Realm,” Lu Ming replied.

Jiu Han was impressed. Considering Lu Ming’s age and the short time he had been cultivating, his progress was extraordinary.

“If you were an ordinary disciple,” Jiu Han began, “I would recommend changing your Body Forging technique to an Ancient Realm one, which is essential for those seeking advancement in the Boshi Tower.”

After a pause, Jiu Han asked, “Do you believe you can cultivate the Flame type Body Forging technique to the Divine level?”

“Yes,” Lu Ming replied confidently.

“And how long would it take?”

Lu Ming hesitated. “It could take a long time.”

“That’s fine,” Jiu Han said with a smile. “There are plenty of ways to speed up your cultivation.”

“In any case, if you don’t think you can reach the Divine level with this technique, it’s better to switch sooner rather than later. However, if you are confident, it’s worth cultivating to the Divine level.”

After some thought, Jiu Han offered an analogy: “It’s like laying a foundation. The stronger the foundation, the taller the building you can construct.”

Lu Ming nodded in agreement.

“Finally, let’s discuss your spatial and temporal ability—your Time-Space realm,” Jiu Han said.

“It’s called the Void Realm,” Lu Ming confirmed.

“Right, Void Realm,” Jiu Han mused. “What’s the current maximum efficiency of your Void Realm?”

“Twenty-four times,” Lu Ming answered. “One day inside is equivalent to one hour outside.”

Jiu Han thought for a moment. “And what’s the highest time flow rate you’ve endured?”

“I’ve experienced a time flow rate of one second per day,” Lu Ming replied casually.

Jiu Han stared, speechless, before hearing Lu Ming add, “I found it quite comfortable.”

“All right then…” Jiu Han muttered, shaking his head. “Improving your Void Realm’s efficiency should be our top priority.”

Lu Ming’s eyes lit up. “Teacher, do you have a method?”

Jiu Han chuckled. “Oh, there are many ways…”
