Infinity in the Void – Freedom in the Abyss

Contemplation

General of the Army, Henry Capone, is welcoming guests from all over America to this Christmas party on the 24th.

He see people he had heard of before, heroes from both the Great War and the Cold War, with some "Argentinian" scientists too.

But he is waiting for someone.

And he saw her, the Sentinel of the West Coast, Abigail Sillarco. Wearing a red shirt and black pants, with a coat hanging off her shoulder. Does he have a crush on her? Yes, but that is an old story for a man in his fifties.

And following behind Abigail is her adopted daughter, Charlotte Silvi Sillarco. A mysterious Greek girl, known for her silver hair and piercing azure eyes, although she is wearing glasses now. She dressed formally, looking like an unapproachable ruler... and all eyes are on her.

"Hello, Henry!", Abigail approached him.

"Hello, General Abigail.", he replied back.

"Man, don't be too formal.", she elbowed him, "We are here having fun, relax a bit! Just call me Abby."

"I can't possibly treat a respected hero like that, General Abigail.", he retorted.

"You need a couple more years to not give a single shit.", she pat him on the shoulder, "Just hang in there."

"I will remember your words, General Abigail.", Henry nodded, then he moved to Charlotte, "And who is this beautiful lady?"

"I'm her adopted daughter, Charlotte.", she simply stated with a cocky smile, "I'll be having fun over there."

She pointed over to where the teens are at. Henry nodded, understanding that she was only a child despite looking like a young adult.

"Well, now that my daughter is gone...", Seria smiled slyly, grabbing a bottle of wine, turning to everyone, and raising it up, "Everyone!! We are getting fucking drunk tonight!! There are eighty bottles of whiskey here!! We are not stopping until ten of us get alcohol poisoning!!"

And the crowd responded in kind, agreeing on the top of their lungs. Henry too joined in on the fun, taking a shot first.

Abigail while working as the General of the Army was a serious person, who want every orders to be completed perfectly. It was not because she was a tyrant, she was the exact opposite of one because she believed in the people of the United States of America.

As the General of the Army, he knows the secret of Abigail Sillarco. The person who helped the 13 Colonies gain independence, and watched over America ever since. Like a Guardian Angel, you could say she is America itself.

Yet that serious person, the eternal guardian of America, is nowhere to be found here. Just a fun-loving woman, a veteran hanging out with her comrades.

Outside of work, she never treated anyone as her subordinate, because she knew her position. She is an idol for the people, the least she can do is smile for them as they wither away.

pop

I crack open a can of beer and down it in one gulp.

"This tastes horrible.", I complained, crushing the can with my hands.

The kids here were intimidated by that, not that I care. Hmm... some of them are Gem Holders or Unique Humans. All of them are on their phone, refusing to interact with strangers, and me after my act.

Looks like I'll be teaching them soon.

If they don't want to speak to me, then I won't force them.

I headed over to the buffet table, grabbing a plate and began to pick up the snacks. Onion rings, fried chicken, garlic butter steaks, salad, some pasta, ranch dressing, and more, all balanced on my plate like a perfect mountain.

With that, I used Justice Mist to lift it and go with me to the balcony.

Here I have a great view of the Golden Gate Bridge on the left, and the dim light coming from Alcatraz on the right.

I enjoy my food here while smoking my cigarette. Looking at the people inside enjoying their time together... it make me feel kinda jealous, I can't feel that type of excitement when with someone else.

Still, the stress is creeping up on me. I have a lot on my table, with Theia still out there. Even with the forced Contract, I am not sure if she is harmless...

Oh, Alcatraz just exploded. Well, a silent pillar of light just erupted from there.

Huh, what happened to Lugh? She went out to tour the city with Enna...

"Utopia, what is happening?", I took out my phone.

"[Lughz Dustur summoned one of her Angel, reason being that she was feeling like it.]"

"What the actual fuck...", I look back, seeing how everyone was still partying.

Then the pillar of light dissipate, revealing an Angel that look like a Christmas tree. Golden bark that stand over twenty meters, white leaves burning with blue flame that illuminate the night, and countless golden serpent eyes as ornaments.

Should I leave it like that?

No.

"Tell Lugh to send it back where it came from, we don't need an Eldritch Christmas Tree.", I stated.

A few seconds later, Utopia replied to me, "[She said she will remove it after Christmas Eve, Your Highness.]"

I guess that is better than nothing. Still, having a fucking tree Angel in a snowfall, on Alcatraz of all places.

"I want to fight it.", I smile, caressing Fallen Starlight on my back. Surprisingly, no one noticed my rifle.

"[I would advise against fighting an Angel in a populated area. They are known for being quite destructive, Your Highness.]"

I rolled my eyes, "Fine... I'll let SFPD deal with it."

I stayed on the balcony for a while, watching the Christmas Tree Angel display its light. Despite being very creepy, it is beautiful in a sense, something so incomprehensible and horrifying... can look so magnificent.

This view kept on reminding me of the farfetched dream of humanity, a dream so incomprehensible it borderline madness.

To reach and touch the stars.

Not because it is practical or anything, it is just wishful thinking. But that madness is what defines humanity, if we don't dream big, dream of the unreachable, why dream in the first place?

It won't be me who will witness humanity's ascension. I can choose to be immortal, but time decays it all, no matter if I am the embodiment of the Indomitable Human Spirit or not.

Once again, I reaffirmed my vision and my Ambition. To break the chains of society, another shackle will be broken, and set off the greatest Revolution in human history.

At this crossroad between Utopia and Dystopia... I will drive humanity towards the latter. When the cycle of conflict ends, humanity will only have one enemy, and that is itself.

I finished my plate of food, and I returned inside...

Err... why the fuck are everyone raving?

In front of me, while I was having an existential crisis, the respected generals and heroes of America were... having a dance battle.

And why is Seria being the DJ?

"Wooooo!!! Get him, Danny!!", Seria yelled, her face reddening. She is drunk.

I look at a corner, fifty empty bottles of Whiskey, ten bottles of champagne, twenty bottles of vodka... they are going all out, huh

And the children... some of them left already, and the rest... well, they joined their parents in the mosh pit.

I shrugged, taking off my crop vest, unbuttoning my shirt to expose my breasts and loosen my corset.

Forget about singing, there is no way these drunkards will listen to anything I say anyway—

I downed a whole bottle of Whiskey, feeling the burning sensation of the alcohol and the smokey flavor...

Hehahahaha!!

Might as well join in too!!
