It’s Scary When Things Work Out

Chapter 14: How to Get a Skill

Bah, bah. Bah.

My fists were falling rapidly onto the wall-mounted punching bag. Notifications about gaining experience flashed before my eyes. It turned out that simply swinging my fists in the air was less effective than hitting a target.

Because the experience gained this way would be greater than just swinging. Repeating the same actions became tiresome, so I struck again, turned around, and kicked the punching bag.

When I could no longer continue, I stopped doing it quickly and glanced at the description of the skill that had been improved some time ago.

Raising the skill level

The longer this went on, the more confidence I had in the upcoming task. Not only that, but other skills were also improving at a rapid pace.

Raising the skill level

Raising the skill level

Raising the skill level

After reviewing each skill and its new description one by one, I sighed. It's such a scam that I still find it unbelievable. I haven't tried adding other skills yet because I had other things to do. After completing the task, I'll have to try a lot of things.

Naturally, the first thing to focus on is self-defense, and then other things. On the very first day of the transition, I clearly understood the world I had entered.

After freshening up, eating, and going to bed, I still hadn't seen my sister. She was clearly in a bad mood. As we were going upstairs, I tried to cheer her up in some way. But it didn't work; she ignored me and locked herself in her room.

Given the relationship between him and the previous host of this body, I couldn't take big steps to get closer to her. Besides, I have more important problems to deal with now.

Once I'm done with them, I'll also try to improve our relationship. It's not guaranteed to go smoothly, but if I can get money from the dark website, our lives could improve, and it might ease the tension between us a bit.

Lying on the bed, many thoughts crossed my mind.

Tomorrow, I must definitely do something towards completing the missions. I need to hurry while I still know his whereabouts.

Glancing at the pocket hidden in the corner of the wardrobe, I slowly drifted off to sleep.

.................................................................

The next morning, my sister left for school early. And I left home and headed to the place where the person I had to eliminate was located.

With the help of photographs, I can easily identify him; now I just need to locate him and figure out how to get rid of him. The mission was to eliminate him, but the means were not specified. So, besides the contents of this package, I can also use a gun.

Although there are few bullets in it, and I don't have money to buy more.

After getting on the subway, getting off, and crossing several streets, I finally reached my destination.

There were many buildings in these places, and if you looked closely, you could also see many signs for clubs or other venues.

Based on the photo, the man appeared to be middle-aged and had a fairly imposing figure. Thinking it over, I presumed he was not an ordinary person, so caution would be necessary.

However, if it's assumed that I, at first glance, am just an ordinary girl, it might work to my advantage.

Unfortunately, the name was not provided by the other side, so there was no opportunity to ask people around. By strolling back and forth on the street, there might be a chance for me to find him.

I could also search through the clubs, judging by how many there are here. Perhaps he is even the boss of these places, and based on that, I can use my beauty to catch his attention.

But showing my face and identity wouldn't be very smart.

So, first, I will have to find places where it's likely that someone like him could appear.

...

Noon was approaching, but I still couldn't find this person. The clubs were still not open to check if he was there, so I had to wait until evening.

It was too boring to just wait like that, so first, I had a meal and then found an internet cafe.

Sitting in front of the computer, I had an idea. I needed to implement it; perhaps it would work. If yes, it would be extremely effective for me to achieve my goal.

Opening my browser, I immediately typed in the search bar. After loading, numerous links appeared with titles like "Programming for Beginners." Although I wanted to become a hacker quickly, considering that hacking is nothing more than programming, I had to start from the basics.

Opening a page and quickly accessing a book, I began reading. I wasn't sure if it would work, but it was better than spending time boringly waiting. As I read, I struggled to grasp the content, just like in my previous life. After about 40 minutes, I finally finished reading a certain section.

But my efforts did not yield the desired skill. Pondering, I closed that book and opened another link, starting to read a different one. As time passed, I repeated the same actions over and over again. Yet again, the skills failed to emerge.

Leaning back in my seat, I felt despondent. Indifferently staring at the screen, filled with densely packed codes, I mechanically continued reading, even if I didn't understand the content. Finally, after so much time had passed, I gave up. I placed my head on the table and stopped reading.

My mind was ready to explode from the abundance of information and complexity. Acquiring physical skills was much easier, simply by waving or breathing...

As soon as this thought came to my mind, I straightened up. I realized one thing, but I needed to confirm it to understand if it was true.

My hand trembled slightly, but after taking a few deep breaths, I calmed down. Looking at the screen, I opened the browser and entered a search query. Soon, the results appeared.

Opening another link, a website appeared before my eyes with "LLK Compiler" written at the top.

That's what I had thought. The main requirement for acquiring a skill is experience.

Sure, I haven't even tried, but I wanted to gain a skill. It would be highly illogical since experience increases with what I do. I don't acquire skills just like that.

After thinking, I opened another link and started writing code using the knowledge from the book.

Under my clumsy writing, a few lines of code were written rather quickly.

Finally, after clicking "run," I anxiously watched. But it turned out the program gave an error indicating that the code was written incorrectly.

This action repeated several times, and I was ready to explode because I couldn't even write a simple program.

Suddenly, the program displayed notifications of successful code execution, and immediately after that, another notification appeared before my eyes.

Quickly opening the description of the new skill, I felt delighted.

New Skill

That's how I acquired the skill I was striving for. Looking again at the code I wrote, without any effort, I understood its contents.

It was truly amazing. It seemed like I didn't have to think; I already knew how to write some simple programs, just as described in the skill description. But that wasn't enough.

Since I needed a skill that was much better than that, namely a hacker.

After thinking, I began searching the internet for how to become a hacker.

After a while, I came across an article that outlined the necessary skills for it.

Without much hesitation, I started searching the internet and stumbled upon a strange website that showed step-by-step instructions on what hackers do.

After a moment of thought, I decided to give it a try, maybe it would work...
