Mark of the Multiversal Pretender

Ch. 117 – Date

"Is it good?" Helen asked Jessica, rotating her body in front of the full body mirror.

"Oh my god, girl! You look fabulous! Especially those assets of yours! Trust me, whoever you're dating will look at them first before your face! It's what all men sees during dates!"

"R-Really?" Although Helen doesn't like the 'fats' that she has, but if it means getting Leo's attention, then perhaps her 'fats' turns out tomorrow be a blessing in disguise?

"Now. Let's put on your make up and fi-."

*Vroom!*

Before Jessica could even finish her words, she was interrupted by the loud sound of an engine outside of their dorm building, followed along by several gasps and commotion of the nearby fellow students.

"What's that?" Jessica muttered in confusion and curiosity.

Leaving Helen alone in the dressing room, Jessica approached the window and swung the curtains open.

Seeing a sleek black Camaro parked in front of the dorm building's porch, like the reaction of the others, she also gasped in shock and surprise.

"Helen! You gotta see this! There's a handsome man with a handsome car parked on our dorm's porch!" Shouting Helen's name without leaving her eyes on the said man, Helen raised an eyebrow.

"What do you mean handsome man?" While approaching the window, she replied in confusion.

"Just take a look at that!" Once Helen arrived by her side, Jessica simply pointed her finger down outside.

Trailing where her finger is pointing at, Helen's eyes widened upon seeing the familiar figure of Leo.

"Leo." She unconsciously muttered which didn't go unnoticed by Jessica.

"Leo? That's his name? How did you even know his name, you don't even know his nam- ohhhh, i-is he your date?" Upon realization, Jessica leaned towards her and whispered while keeping an eye contact with her, as if trying to see through her in case she lies.

"W-wha-?! How did you know?!" Due to being stunned by the sudden assumption by Jessica, Helen's tongue slipped and accidentally gave the answer.

"I knew it! Quick tell me! How did you pull such a rich guy? Did you flash him with your boobs? That seems to be the most plausible thing." Jessica grabbed onto her shoulders and started shaking her as she started making accusations while muttering the last sentence to herself which was still heard by Helen.

"No! I didn't flash him! And even if I did, Leo is not that kind of person! Look, I appreciate the help for the outfit but I have to go now." Avoiding eye contact with Jessica, Helen rushed out of the door and left their dorm room. To be honest, even if Jessica helped her and it was tremendous, that doesn't mean she forgives her.

"O-okay, don't forget to text me after your date!" Shouting to Helen outside, Jessica hopes that Helen hasn't gotten that far yet and she heard her yell.

***

Outside, several students have gathered now and are constantly taking pictures of Leo and his black Camaro, some keeping the photo to their galleries while most of them were sending it to several friends.

Finally, the door swung open and everyone watched as Helen kept her head down while walking towards Leo.

"I-Is it just me or is Helen gonna approach that rich handsome man?"

"You're not alone, she's even wearing a dress as if she's going on a date."

Then, much to the shock and doubt of everyone, Leo raised his head to face Helen and warmly smiled.

"You look good, Helen. I like your outfit."

"T-Thanks." Likewise, Helen smiled followed along with a blush on her cheeks.

"Let's go?" Opening the front passenger seat, Leo offered with a smile.

Helen also smiled and carefully bent her back as she went inside, carefully avoiding the side trims as if she would dirty it with her shoes.

Once inside, Leo gently closed the door and walked towards the driver's seat and went inside.

*Vroom!*

Followed up by the roar of the engine, everyone's stunned eyes stared at the departing black Camaro.

"Was that really....Helen?"

"It seems like it?"

***

"Y-You didn't have to make such a commotion, you know. I didn't even know you had such a....fancy car which looks amazing by the way."

"Thanks. And do you mean, I didn't have to make a commotion? It wasn't me, it was your college mates who made the commotion, I just brought myself there and they just started taking their phones out and took photos of me and my car without my permission." Leo simply shrugged his shoulders as he replies.

"Why, do you not want me to fetch you? I can do that, I know how to commute, just say the the word." He continued.

"N-No! That's not what I meant. Its just that, I don't want to gather too much attention on me, I feel like a lion in a zoo." Helen looked down on her skit and clenched it.

"I understand but let me say this, I think you should get over that kind of fear, if you want to be a Superhero, you should already expect to gain attention much worse than what you just experienced."

"You're right, I guess..." Helen muttered in reply.

"Well, enough about that, you told me that you would show me around, right? Say, let's have dinner first, what restaurant do you recommend." Noticing Helen's reaction, Leo mentally slapped himself on the head and quickly changed the topic to lighten up the mood.

"Restaurant? I think I know one." Helen of course was delighted by the change of topic and quickly took a ride. She placed her index finger under her chin while looking up, assuming the casual posture of someone thinking about something.

"Well then, lead the way, just tell me the directions and I'll bring us there, Flexy." Leo nodded his head and said, however by the end of his reply, a grin was plastered on his face as he winked at Helen who just recently registered that she's been called by the embarrassing nickname again.

"D-Don't call me that!"

"Hahahaha!"

***

"Is it ready?"

"Yes sir, I planted it all on the locations that you marked." Inside a familiar dark room, a man with slicked back hair and glasses, pushed the rim of his glasses and replied.

"Good. Now, how do I look?" Behind the desk, a dark shadowy man sat under the veil of darkness due to the light seeping through the curtains from his behind.

"You look good, sir."

"Okay, prepare our villain actor and make him appear on all televisions. You remember the script right?"

"Yes! Make the villain announce on all televisions of how he planted bombs all around Metroville, causing panic across America and then you will save the day by discovering the hidden location of the villain and making him spit all of the locations of the bombs."

"You're forgetting something..."

"Y-Yes, right. Detonate one bomb, just to make it seem real to everyone."

"Good. Now call me once the villain actor finished his announcement, I'll just fix myself up."

"Y-Yes. M-May I go now, Mr. Guillermo?"

"Hmm?"

"I-I mean Sir Super Macho Man!"

The man behind the darkness then stepped forward, revealing it to be the number one Superhero of America, Super Macho Man.

"Very Good...."

***

"Helen...."

"Hm?"

"You know this is McDonalds, right?" Standing side by side with Helen, Leo's mouth twitched several times seeing the 'Restaurant' that Helen was talking about.

"Is something wrong? It's my favourite restaurant." Helen looked at Leo in worry.

"Well....it was my favourite too." Hearing Helen's words made Leo remember his childhood, thanks to his new template, he could clearly remember his past life, no longer as hazy as it used to be.

Back when he was a child, it has always been his dream to eat at the McDonalds as the orphanage he stays in has McDonalds nearby, so he always stops by and watches people eat nuggets and burgers with euphoria filled faces.

"Really?" Meanwhile, Helen doesn't know that Leo was reminiscing about his past, she's just happy that she and Leo finally have something in common.

"Yeah. Let's go in." Taking hold of Helen's hand, he sauntered forward.

Not embarrassed by holding hands anymore, Helen simply smiled and let herself be dragged by Leo.

As they approached the counter to line up, Leo's eyes suddenly got attracted by two figures also lining up on a counter.

"Is that...." Leo muttered to herself, his sharp hearing listening to their conversation.

"I told you Bob, Nuggets are not good on your diet. So leave it, we'll only have fries and burgers."

"Oh come on, Luci. You know how much I love Nuggets. Just one."

One was a large man with bulging muscles that got all women in McDonald's attention.

Beside him was a dark skinned man with a bald head and thin figure.

From the looks of it, the two seems to be arguing about something related to their order.

"Mr. Incredible and Frozone..." Leo muttered the names of the two under his breath which was heard by Helen.

"Mr. Incredible and Frozone? I feel like I've heard of those names on the news before."

"....Those are superheroes. And I think those two over there are the said heroes."

'I wonder how fate will work this time. Will Helen no longer feel anything towards Bob Parr or will I have to challenge destiny and make sure it won't interfere in what I want.' At this point, Leo's eyes turned cold as a flash of killing intent glint appeared on his eyes, which disappeared soon after.
