Mark of the Multiversal Pretender

Watching the ceremony of Elsa's ascension to Queen was as boring as Leo expected. Aside from Elsa repeating what the priest was saying and holding the two items with her bare hands which is supposed to freeze but since Elsa was able to control her powers a year ago thanks to the butterfly effect that he caused, it's time for the party in the ballroom to start.

"Why do you look bored?" While the rest of the guests were walking back to the ballroom, Leo and Elsa found themselves walking next to each other while chatting.

"Nothing. I was expecting something exciting to happen during the ceremony." Leo shrugged his shoulders, boredom still plastered in his face.

"Like?"

"Bandits attacking us with Kingpin's weapons." Leo answered without any hesitation. Elsa already knows about the upcoming attack anyway, so there's no need to hide it from her.

"Kingpin huh. I remember you told me that Kingpin secretly controls the Underground or something?" Elsa asked, her eyes glued on Leo's face, watching his expression turn from being calm to quick anger.

"Yes. He built his own empire through the lives of innocents." Leo clenched his fists, anger flashing in his eyes.

Obviously he's lying, he didn't take any innocent life, indirectly perhaps but not directly. He's just exaggerating here, after all, the real Kingpin indeed built his empire through the blood of innocents.

"I still can't believe such a man managed to become loved and admired by everyone around the world, not knowing his true face." Elsa was also angered by the man who calls himself Kingpin. Even though she hasn't seen the real Kingpin yet, she has seen the effects of Kingpin's influence in the world.

Although some of his inventions are indeed useful but knowing that all of those inventions were invented through the use of innocent blood, Elsa started to disdain Kingpin more and more.

"That's why I vowed to myself that I will take him down and tear his empire apart." Leo clenched his fists to the point that his knuckles started to turn white, maintaining his top notch acting in front of Elsa, who in turn fell to his performance.

"'We' will take him down." Wanting to hold Leo's whitened knuckles but decided against it as she doesn't want Leo to think about it, she could only pat his shoulder in support.

"We? You'll join me in the battle?" Leo 'acted' surprise as he looks to Elsa who seems to be smug from Leo's reaction.

"Of course! It is also part of my responsibility in this world. You're not alone in this fight, Leo. You have me by your side." Smiling warmly, this time, Elsa can't stop herself anymore and slowly creeps her hand towards Leo's finally open hand.

Just as she was about to intertwine her fingers over Leo, someone quickly interrupted them.

"Elsa! You're here! Quick, the guests are looking for you, the same goes to dad and mom also. I'm sorry, Leo but I'll be taking my sister here for a bit." Anna made an apologetic expression towards Leo and without even waiting for the two to respond, Anna grabbed Elsa's hand that was just a few inches away from Leo before dragging her away.

Both Elsa and Leo could only look back at each other, their hands trying to reach out to each other yet their distance slowly getting further and further away.

Once the two princesses are gone from his vision, Leo sighs in defeat before slapping himself on the cheeks.

"This is fucking wrong! What the fuck is wrong with me!" Leo clenched the hem of his shirt where his heart resides, his face contorting into a mixture of annoyance and pain.

[I don't see anything that might cause you pain. So what's the problem?] Hearing Genesis, Leo dryly chuckled.

"Problem! THIS! is the problem. I could sense Elsa's growing affection for me!"

[Isn't that a good thing? Earning her affection only means you're slowly inching towards finishing your main quest in this world.] Assuming from the tone of Genesis, Leo could tell his dear system is confused.

"Good thing? Of course not! She can't be with me and I can't be with her. Sure I love her and want to bed her but I don't think forming a relationship with her will do both of us good."

[You're confusing me so much, Leo. Please enlighten me.]

"It's simple. A liar and a Pretender like me can't be with someone like her. Don't you understand? Love is all about trust and truth, sure trusts me and I sure do but the truth? I'm not the person that she knows, everything I did from the start till now is all built in lies. Forming a relationship with her without telling her the truth about me will not only bite me in the ass in the future but will bring a heavy guilt on my chest." Plopping down on the dirt ground, Leo sighed heavily, his back leaning against a large tree.

Rubbing his temples, Leo looks up in the sky, confusion plastered on his face.

"What am I gonna do, Genesis? Should I continue with Elsa and build our relationship with a lie? Or should I tell her the truth and watch as her face contorts into disgust and starts to distance herself away from me, I won't even be surprised if she froze me with her ice powers." Leo spoke with a hoarse voice, tiredness finally taking over his face.

[....]

[.....Leo, what are we?]

"Seriously Genesis, don't tell me you're just realizing that you have feelings for me after hearing my confession to Elsa?" Leo chuckled slightly, teasing the system.

[I'm being serious here, Leo. I ask you a question, what are we?]

"....I-I don't know? Partners?" Leo scratched his head and answered with an unsure tone.

[Indeed, Partners. That means we have a relationship with each other, right?]

"Relationship? I have no idea what you're talking about. Maybe?" This time, Leo starts to become more and more confused towards the sudden change of his system.

Did Genesis just drink alcohol and it starts to have an effect?

[Then you trust me right?]

"...Yes. a little bit."

[You also share the truth to me right? I know all of your secrets, right?]

"Yes...."

[But you don't know any truth about me, I never shared my secrets with you. Yet here we are, still together and kicking asses left and right.]

"Stop spinning me around, Genesis. Get straight to the point, what are you implying?" Upon hearing Genesis's words and registering them in his mind, Leo stood from the ground and his expression turned serious.

[What I'm trying to say is that despite keeping my secrets from you and not knowing even 1% of my true self, you still chose to trust me and rely on me.]

[What I mean is that you can tell Elsa that you have your secrets that will blow her entire mind yet confess to her that you love her. From what I know about you humans, Elsa's reaction will be that of understanding and acceptance.]

[You're not scared of not being accepted by her, Leo. You're scared of hurting her from the truth. Yes, it may hurt her but it's part of our life. It's normal to feel pain and be hurt by others, what matters is how you overcome it.]

At this point, Leo had a look of realization and enlightenment on his face.

"Genesis....do you perhaps have Master Oogway's template?"

[Heh.]

"....Did you just chuckle?"

[Chuckle? No I didn't.]

"You just chuckled! I made you chuckle! It's a fucking achievement!"

[Shut it! Don't make me regret giving you advice and helping you with your problem!]

Hearing Genesis's flustered tone, Leo had a good laugh for a few seconds before quieting down.

"Still...thank you, Genesis. For everything. I never regretted meeting you."

[....Me too. Now go back to the ballroom, you idiot! Your main quest is officially about to start!]

"Huh? Main quest? Oh shit!" Upon widening his eyes, Leo cursed out loud, quickly spreading his senses across the entire Arendelle, especially towards the castle.

As soon as Leo's senses touched the castle and its insides, Leo was assaulted by a bunch of intense emotions coming from every living being inside.

Anger

Sadness

Fear

Pain

Distress

Despair

So many different emotions made Leo dizzy and almost lost control of his mind.

[Leo! Reduce your Life Sensor skill! You're being overwhelmed by it!]

Heeding Genesis's advice, Leo quickly pulled his senses back to himself before falling down on the ground, seemingly out of breath.

"W-what happened to me?"

[Out of panic, you unconsciously used the full extent of your Life Sensor skill. Allowing you not only to sense people's auras and presence but also their emotions, hidden feelings and buried traumas. You absorbed and felt it all.]

"Seriously? That wasn't in the skill's description!"

[Of course it wouldn't be in the description, you weren't just not strong enough to unlock the skill's full potential!]

[Enough talking about this! Go back to the castle! With the main quest now starting, Elsa, being the center of it definitely won't be in good condition.]

Nodding his head, Leo quickly stood up and used his full speed to quickly arrive at the gates of the castle.

"Sorcery! I knew it! Arendelle has been keeping a sorcerer!"

"No! It's a demon!"

Seeing the earlier guests running outside the gates with fervor and fear on their faces, Leo's face turned grim. Having a guess of what happened inside, Leo quickly rushed inside, finding several bodies all impaled by ice.

"Elsa what happened." Leo muttered in confusion as his eyes scanned around and suddenly found a familiar figure also impaled by an ice.

"King Agnarr!"
