Refusing My God’s Advances

Chapter 124: Ember’s Vaults

Lila and the other two golems let out a sigh.

"Can we return to your inventory?" Lila asked and then looked at the sisters. "I don't know about them, but I am beat. I don't think I have enough energy to fight those rats even if I wasn't terrified of them!"

At Lila's words, both Cynthia and Isilda nodded in agreement. "Being out like this is taxing, and I agree that it would be nice to return to your inventory."

I nodded, and then returned each of them, but then looked down at my hand. "What is it like for them in the inventory?" I mused, and Shelli linked arms with me.

"There will be a space that is most familiar and comfortable to you constructed for all the golems to stay while not in use. Normally, Golemancer or Golem Mage would be able to visit this place, but only after level 200. Since you are not either, I don't know how it will work. There has never been a blessing like yours before," Shelli explained as we walked back out of the dungeon.

I had a bunch of notifications I had to check out tonight, so there might be something in there about it. For now, I just enjoyed the walk with Shelli as she talked about her adventures with Aria and Lyra. As I listened, I slowly got an even better image of Aria's overwhelming power.

According to Shelli, Dungeons like the Crystal Cavern that we were in were one of the very few places that Aria could attack without the worry of a disaster. The way the dungeons were built isolated each cave from the tunnels that connected them. This was an effect generated by the center island crystal, or as my brain knew it, a Dungeon Core.

In light novels, dungeons a lot of times appear out of nowhere. They were interdimensional spaces controlled by the Dungeon Core. In these spaces, the outside structure of the dungeon rooms was indestructible, and the monsters respawned after set amounts of time.

This world seemed to have a similar system with the island crystals, but there were also Dungeons like the one Mary had thrown me into on Emberfall. I was curious to know if that cave was another island crystal or something different, so I asked Shelli.

"According to Mary, that dungeon was created by Ember when he died. There are a few others on the island that hold secrets, but they are all guarded by The Radiants. They are a special class of monsters stronger than Divine Class monsters. Unlike other dungeon monsters, they can only be killed once, and they have special rewards. There are also certain conditions to fight them, and things you need to do during each fight, or you could lose your chance to unlock Ember's Vaults," Shelli explained, and I listened along.

A radiant-rated monster sounded like something out of my league and made me wonder what kind of monsters they would be. I was still having trouble with epic monsters, and I hadn't even hit a unique one, let alone a legendary monster. There were probably unique legendary and divine-rated monsters as well before radiant-rated.

"Needless to say, they are not monsters that you should have to worry about anytime soon. According to Aria, even if Mary and her both fought, they were not guaranteed to win," Shelli said, and I looked at her in surprise.

"Really? Just what kind of creatures could be that strong?!" I asked as the light of the outside world came into view down the tunnel.

"This is all from Aria, but according to her, they are just as strong as Ember, or even stronger. They were summoned from other worlds by the dragon, and now they have been trapped here ever since. Aria has talked to one before, and they are angry creatures," Shelli said with a shiver, but I frowned at this last part as we reached the cave entrance.

"She talked to one of them?" I asked, and Shelli nodded.

"Monsters that are divine-rated or higher can speak our language, or any language for that matter. It is part of their evolution. All of them still want to kill us, but some are less aggressive than others. Some can even be reasoned with," She explained as I picked her up.

The trip back to Emberfall was quiet, or windy would be a better way to put it, so it was hard to talk anyway. I was thinking about all the information I had absorbed today, but my mind kept on wandering back to The Radiants. My mind was less concerned about the monster and more interested in what they might be protecting.

What would the strongest creature ever to exist on this planet have inside one, or all of its sealed vaults? not just sealed, but guarded, and password protected. We had talked about the doors having a code that you had to get to open them. That must mean that the code was with the radiant-rated monster.

So not only did you have to defeat a group of the strongest monsters to ever exist, but also get the code for the door before killing them. If you killed them before that, you were screwed and got nothing but the rewards from the monster. The rewards in the vaults would have to be out of this world for that level of challenge, but that made it all the more enticing.

That was worth putting on my bucket list, but I had to get stronger than Aria if I wanted to be able to attempt something like that.

The island was now coming into view, and I wondered just how long it would be before I was ready to challenge the central island crystal. I also needed to find someone to essentially teach me how to fly the island as well, but I was going to talk to Daniel about that.

So many things, but so little time. On the up and up, this just forced me to get stronger faster. The stronger that I got, the closer I came to getting my hands on this world's mastermind and my greatest annoyance.

I will never forget what he did with my life's work back on Earth. Garland would pay, and I would have my vengeance.

Never mess with a man’s passions.
