Rise of the Zerg in the World of Gods

Chapter 40: A Frontal Rout

The spectators gasped as they watched the units of over forty people converge from various directions, then march grandly in search of Xu Luo's whereabouts.

"These privileged kids are so shameless, targeting one person with so many!" a righteous voice spoke up from the regular class observers.

"Exactly! They have no shame, stooping to such tactics."

"A genius finally emerges from us common folk, only to be targeted like this. Sigh, we can only hope Xu Luo can fight his way back next month!"

Although they sympathized with Xu Luo, there was nothing they could do to help. In everyone's eyes, Xu Luo being the first to be eliminated seemed inevitable.

Under the indiscriminate search of dozens of people's units, Xu Luo's Zerg were quickly found.

At a single command, everyone began to converge.

"Holy crap!" Xu Luo couldn't help but curse when he saw the vast army of units approaching.

These people were too underhanded!

Unable to defeat him one-on-one, they all ganged up together.

Among the charging units were barbarians, centaurs, half-elves, various beastmen tribes, half-beast tribes, and many wild beasts, all howling as they approached.

Regardless of their combat power, the sheer numbers alone were intimidating.

"You all think I'm a pushover?" Xu Luo sneered, seeing everyone unite against him.

Although his units hadn't been replenished, he now had more than just the original three types of Zerg.

"Engage!" Without much fanfare, Xu Luo directly commanded his Zerg to attack.

It seemed that the units of forty-odd people outnumbered Xu Luo's Zerg, but it's worth noting that the Zerg had become high-tier units, quite formidable even among Bronze tier, not to mention the presence of Silver tier Zerg.

Tens of thousands of Zerg launched their charge. Though not fast, they moved in orderly formation, in stark contrast to the disorganized mob on the other side.

The endless plains offered no cover or terrain to exploit; it was a test of pure strength.

The first enemy units to contact the Zerg crumbled instantly, offering no effective resistance.

"What kind of combat power is this?"

The student with beastmen units at the front was immediately eliminated. Five thousand green-skinned orcs vanished without a trace, while the opponent suffered no noticeable losses.

In a large-scale charge, even the defensively-oriented Beetle Zerg possessed terrifying impact force.

Although orcs weren't weak, these weren't high-tier orcs, just Bronze tier 4 or 5 orc soldiers. They were no match for the elite Beetle and Mantis Zerg.

The first elimination was just the beginning. From then on, more and more would be eliminated; it was only a matter of time.

At this point, as the two sides clashed in close combat, everyone was horrified to discover that while one of Xiang Xun's Dragon Blood Warriors could kill seven or eight Zerg, against Xu Luo's forces, it was a one-sided massacre.

Their units were simply no match for the Zerg.

"Is that... a new unit type?" Someone with sharp eyes spotted Zerg charging through the melee that weren't among the three types Xu Luo had used initially.

"It seems so!" Others weren't sure.

They were observing the battlefield mentally, not physically present, at most viewing everything through their believers' perspectives.

Xu Luo was currently observing everything from the Queen's perspective.

The two Queens were hidden underground, unseen by the others. If revealed, it would have been even more terrifying.

From the initial frontal contact, the Zerg demonstrated their power, completely suppressing the combined forces of the others.

Whether common units or elite units, Bronze tier 5, 6, or 9, all fell before the Zerg.

An allied army of over a hundred thousand was shattered by a few tens of thousands of Zerg.

Be it the defensively strong Beetle Zerg, the offensively powerful Mantis Zerg, or the Acid Zerg capable of spraying acid and self-destructing, all left deep impressions.

Yet none of these compared to the shock of those few thousand Mountain Shakers.

They truly lived up to the saying "gods or demons, all fall before them!"

On their path of advance, whether blocked by the physically strong tiger-headed men or the domineering lion-headed men, they cared not, simply steamrolling over everything.

The five eliminated people had already emerged, deeply regretting why they had provoked this monster Xu Luo. If they had chosen someone else as a target, there might have been a chance to stay, or at least they shouldn't have charged so quickly!

But regret came too late, and no one cared whether they regretted it or not.

The spectators felt their blood boiling.

This was real combat!

What were those small-scale battles of a few hundred or thousand units?

This massive battle of over a hundred thousand was truly spectacular and exciting enough.

One against forty-odd opponents - at first, everyone thought Xu Luo had no hope, but the tables turned so quickly that no one had time to react.

At this point, no one cared about saving face anymore. They just wanted to know what Xu Luo's new unit types were, and what those units guarding the Queen were.

Although not numerous, Xu Luo had evolved some Burrowing Zerg and Earth Dragon Zerg. However, due to the live broadcast, he didn't want to expose them.

If he had a choice, he wouldn't even have revealed the Mountain Shakers. All his units had been teleported over.

But with over forty people teaming up against him, no matter how confident he was, he knew that ordinary Bronze tier units might not be enough. So he decisively deployed the Mountain Shakers, intending to crush the opposition directly and prevent more of his information from being exposed.

The units of these second-generation rich kids weren't weak, but they were either not fully developed or few in number. Moreover, they charged in disarray, occasionally even trampling each other.

For instance, it was common for larger units like orcs and half-beasts to trample slower units in front of them.

They lacked unified command. In contrast, Xu Luo's side was disciplined, and his units had ascended to become elite, further increasing their strength. This disparity naturally resulted in completely different combat effectiveness.

If Xu Luo was exerting 120% effort, the allied forces would be lucky to muster 60%.

At this point, even if Xiang Xun wanted to organize a counterattack, it was impossible. With so many people without unified command, he'd have to communicate with others first, then have them relay orders to their believers. By that time, it would be too late.

Thus, the so-called alliance became a joke.
